Holy Crap - MC 3.0 is fast

Just upgraded my XpressPro Suite to MC and it is amazing. What deal for 500.00 bucks.

Highly recommended to XPRO users.

I am running MC 3.0 on a Dell XPS 410 w/ Avid Mojo. Avid is a real dreamto cut on. It has a significant learning curve if you are coming from Premier, Vegas, or FCP.

Avid is certainly not perfect but with their new pricing and more aggressive business strategies it has been very cool. In today's market it literally PAYS to know Avid and FCP.

Do you think buying a copy of media composer and using it sans Avid hardware would suffice?

At this point in my carreer I cant exactly be investing in an octo core mac and Avid hardware for 20 plus thousand dollars.

Premier is what I have grown up on, so it's hard to let it go. I just wish it had some of the things the others have. I think it is only a matter of time before they step up their game with premier. Photoshop and After Effects have become an industry standard. AHHH, so tough for a struggling young person such as myself.

How did you go about getting your Avid setup?

Hey Jason is it a requirement to have Mojo when cutting on MC? I'm a xpress pro user been using it for few years but was thinking about MC.

thanks

It's my understanding that you can just run MC as the application. The hardware is for analog and digital inputs to maximize performance.. Again this is just my understanding.

Adam is correct. MC will run software only.

Adam I think just getting MC software only is a great way to learn the interface. No need to drop 20k just to see if you like something.

I bought my Avid when I started my company. I used an off the shelf dell and put the system together my self. A turnkey system is much easier but you pay a lot more for it.

Keep in mind that a lot of us are shooting to p2 or SxS so there is no need for a lot of real time output hardware.

If I knew that MC would run on my MacPro under BootCamp with an Nvidia 8800GTS I'd be more likely to consider it, but with a lot of "ifs" in the equation, I think I'm safer with Liquid in it and wait to see if the Nexgen is actually something I'd want to consider for PC or Mac, otherwise we'll stick with "safe" Liquid and FCP S2.
