The end of 35mm adapers and hv20s....

Exactly. The audience is the only thing that matters. Hunter and others have played with the footage available and have done very good corrections to it. I am sure there is a lot of great stuff to come.
The thing is that films today are done with so many wacky takes that most people don't know whats done intentionally or not. Shaky camera work, weird color renditions, grain, fast pans, slow pans. There is so much visually going on in many films, series and especially music videos that the public doesn't even register it all or don't really care.

Ummm... A problem is a problem is a problem. Most people don't notice the sunglasses on the soldiers in Braveheart... but it still makes me laugh. ;-)

Moreover, if it is just the nature of the roll to be consistent... how did RED prove the skew of their camera? Increase the speed of the roll is the only way that would make sense given your logic, and that couldn't be possible either given your logic.

Maybe Red made a firmware update that increased the readout frequency. I think designer normally use the highest possible frequency to minimize the rolling shutter effect. Red designers may have started with a lower frequency since it creates less heat and possibly less noise.

bearing, maybe you can create a firmware update for the d90...say everyone here who buys this camera chips in 5bux for you. yeah???
lol

5k from everyone, then maybe I can bribe myself into a leading position in nikons development facility and make some poor guy do an update for car3os D90, which has got gaffer tape glue marks around the ae-l button.

good. so you're on board then.

I officially have my money set aside for the d90 kit, this Sunday I am going to Circuit City. Anyone want to have a d90 race? Zak? Kholi?

First person to buy the camera, test the specs, and make a film with it and uploads it wins manual mode?

For the unbelievers:
Honestly, why is it so hard to believe that the d90 has a manual mode? Haven't multiple people with multiple reference stated that the exposure is lockable? Have I been imagining it? Is it possible that the people shooting all of these videos use auto-exposure and that none of them have experience in cinematography or video?

You're on.

Serious film, or just upload test footage?

Winning Title: to answer all these asumptions.

D90 MythBuster!!!

Sunday!! it's On.

Also the finder of the lowest price winner.
Though that might be pretty tough because the price I believe is set.

I believe, I believe! Even before you posted Hunter I've heard the rumors and was looking for days for a release day and then voila! it was announced. I have big plans for the still photography knowing that is going to be superb and I sincerely hope the motion capture works out also. It has been an exciting bunch of days.

Price can't be set by manufacturer, its against the law. It is a suggested retail price for the retailers to decide which price they want to sell it for, lower or higher. I would be worried about the lower price unless you are sure of the retailer.

I say "serious" film as in tell a story. That would be really fun. and with that said...

Announcing d90user racefest 08!

Requirements:

1.You must shoot on the d90
2.Must be a narrative type film, not test footage
3.You must include a d90 box in at least one scene in the film
4.You must upload the film to vimeo in HD and post a link on this thread
5.You can only start production when the D90 is sold in the US (ex. when Circuit City has them in stock)

The first 5 people to shoot a film with the d90, upload their film and meet the requirements will get to have their films voted on who was best. Votes can be cast as comments on Vimeo

24 hours after the last uploaded film (of the 5 who do it first) the votes will be counted and the winner will receive the title of

"THE FIRST BESTEST FASTEST D90USER FILMMAKER IN THE WORLD EVARRRRRR!"

and you will be world famous.

Does that sound good? Who's in? Should I expand the number of entries allowed?

personally, my concern stems from the fact that that even the people who have stated exposure is lockable, have not give us "locked" footage. believe me. beeeeeeelieeeeeeeeve me i want this to be solid because i'm likely shooting a feature with it during the first two weeks of october.

Or just the first person to shoot a film with it and post a link wins? Thats kinda boring though and your film could be horrible and you would still win...
