Cool short, I just got my dvx100b about 2 weeks ago, and shot some flowers in my backyard the first day =).

I liked this mic did you use? did you use Vegas to edit?
For this particular short, I used my AudioTechnica AT897. All sound was recorded and added in post; including the match strikes, and the gun clicks.

And yes, I used Vegas to edit.

I actually thought the voice over was very well recorded.Good tone + clarity.
Where did this Irish Breakfast Tea come from? I lived here for 29 years + I never even heard of that ****...Good atmosphere + tension held but I still not sure about the over dramatic dodgy music, although I note u are going to be doing your own score.B+W is nice also.

Hey Virum, Just to give you a little inspiration, don't feel like you got into the game late dude. Feel good about yourself, I've been dreaming with becoming a film maker since I was 11 years old. I'm 26 now, I've had millions of opportunities to "Just do it" but I was always procrastinating, waiting for that fantasy moment when I would just walk up to a famous director and say, "here I am".
The moment actually came for me, this february my wife acted in a movie called "the World without U.S." Directed by Jason Tomaric, not exactly a famous director but he works under Spielburg so it was pretty cool when he invited me to his set.
I'm sitting in the midst of a 30 million dollar production and i go up to him... but I cant find myself saying, "here i am"... there just wasn't anything there to offer.
I'm 26, Jason Tomaric is 28 working on a 30 million dollar movie. He asks me, "so your a film maker?" and i say, "i'd like to be!" and then he says, "so what are you waiting for?"
I'd just like to say Virum that it's cool, you've done a great job that many people wish to do and can if they quit saying I wish I had an HVX but I wont do anything until i have it, guess what? Armato's has a great lay away plan or open up a savings account. And to anyone who is just sitting and waiting for the varicam or Cinealta or for lucas to call you up... don't wait, It's so simple, don't wait, there is no perfect moment... now is the perfect moment.

i thought this short was really awesome. one of the better ones ive seen on here and it held my interest. the only problem i had is when you were picking up and putting down the cup i couldnt hear anything. simple sound effects that were suppose to be there that werent bothered me for some reason. but anyways loved it - cant wait to see more. I am also a young film maker and hopefully ill be able to post some stuff up soon and get some criticism from everybody! goodluck!!!

Hey Virum that was great. I loved how only some SFX filtered through (the gun and the lighter but not the footsteps). Cant wait to see your next one. All the best!

Onedog: yeah, I actually muted all the recorded sound and then recorded sound effects later with my nice mic and added them in in post.

I should have a submission in horror fest, hope you like it. :)

The Animal: Thanks. I think I know what you mean, I'm not happy with several lighting setups in there....but for a first project I'm pretty happy with it.

Hey all. :) I'm 18 years old, kind of got into the film thing a bit late (only 2 years ago), and I bought my own DVX with my own money about a month ago.

Virum - We are in the exact same boat. I would not say you got into this film thing "late"!!! Sheesh, we're only 18!! (Yes, I am 18 as well). I bought my DVX with my own money, too, only I took out a loan. So I'm paying interest, too! It'll take my two years to pay this thing off!!!

I study film and new media at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Believe me, we are not "behind". I'm glad I checked out this thread and learned that we had so much in common. I look forward to Drama-fest!!

Fellow 18 year old here (though a music major, not a film major), and I'm just about to take the DVX plunge (also, we just finished a noir a bit like this one, on a friend's DVX). Virum, I've seen your horror fest stuff, and I must say, I envy your photographic abilities. Not to mention your andromeda.

Thanks guys. :) I'm actually 19 now, though, just had my birthday in September.

Kyle, sorry to hear about the loan, that really sucks. Good luck paying it off.

Mike, thanks a lot. :) I hope you enjoy my drama fest entry as well - it'll be far ahead of these other two shorts since I'll be spending more than 3 days on the project.
