Century Baby Death MKII Fisheye 37 mm

I give up, what the hell is a baby death lens?

It looks like this:

They were dubbed "Death" lenses by extreme sport videographers because of how close you have to get to the action to get the shots you want. Death meaning you get hit a lot by skateboards and flying people. The "baby" part just means this is a smaller version of the big "death" lens. They are usually 0.3x on your current focal length at the wide side, so you get nearly 180 degrees feild of view.

I have shot skate films (my wife's film school thesis, Concrete Addiction) and I have shot with Fisheyes for over 25 years but I have never heard this term. Fascinating. Thanks for adding to my vocabulary!

Keep in mind that 37mm is a small lens, designed for HV-20/30 types of cameras, not for "real" medium sized cameras like the DVX/HVX/EX-1. $700.00 must have been for a physically larger lens like the one in Hunter's picture above.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the one in hunter's pic is the exact same one I have, I just couldn't remember the thread size. I just used it on my little sony cam. It's a fun lens to shoot with if you're into extreme sports or music videos though
