"Dead Week" - A film by Kyle Stebbins (and company)

There are not enough words to describe them. I can't wait to see the final product, Mark, you are all fantastic and I am looking forward to my next trip down there and whenever I can get there to help you all out with something.

Oh, and MattinSTL was in California and nobody warned me ahead of time? What is this world coming to? :)

Alright Hudson and Briceman... since you started this... if I were to CC the project I'd bump contrast a bit... play with contrast center just a SMIDGE... slightly pull the saturation... and pull some of the "rosy health" out of everyone's skin. This adjustment took me 1 minute... is it good? Pff... I don't know... oh yeah... also SLIGHT sharpness adjustment.

What I had in mind was the bleach bypass look of Saving Private Ryan... but w/o the obvious effect... then a touch of sharpness (a touch, mind you) to enhance the shutter play and chaos. If the shot is "rich" with coloring... then it's less scary and intense. Only my .02... but I think the shots should look parched... and harsh... read; from the sun, but the subtext is "a hostile environment"... in every way.

No matter WHAT you do with CC... your clouds still gotta' be white... or the CC will let the viewer relax and say "it's just a movie".

What's that about "O2" Gettemeier? .... Oh, I see ".02" ... I thought you were paying homage to a certain little sci-fi short.

I actually like your tweak a lot G. But what the hell do I know? I thought cc meant credit card.

We'll be meeting Monday with the marines to show them some footage. Should be a good time as this is really good stuff. Wish you were here, man.

Thanks Mark... I wish I was there too... and yeah, you'll see me say "that's just my .02" in a lot of threads... actually I've been doing it SINCE O2... and yes, that's exactly what it means.

In my .02 the footage is so good that I wouldn't hide it behind too much CC. You know the difference between Kodak and Fuji FILM? Well that's what I think you should do... the current footy is Kodak (reddish enhance)... but it would be better suited to Fuji... less red in the skin tones (simply pull the red balance slightly towards Cyan, and away from Red)... and then sharpen it to enhance (not exaggerate, but ENHANCE) the DOF and chaos.

The great thing is that no matter what you do with it... it's gonna' look great.

I'm totally stoked over DEAD WEEK now that I've been perusing the script. My only regret is that we had previously committed to crew with our man Mike Insane that same weekend. Mike, the big dude, is our man after he came out to crew with us. What a Monster he is! So we are definitely going to be making magic with him that weekend. I had looked forward to having Matt Gettemeier meet me in KC to come shoot with you, but you chose the one weekend that won't work. Bummer.

Oh well, I'm sure you guys will do great and your location (The Gold Building) looks absolutely to die for. I'll try calling you from our set and compare notes. Take care dude, and thanks so much for letting me hijack your thread with our little war film.

You too dude! I can tell if I lived out there we'd be tearing up Hollywood in no time. Hey remember when we were picking up shells and you said "my kid will love these"... and I picked up a handful of them also? Well I ran out of shorts and planned to wear pants on my flight home... and that morning I saw those green shorts and thought "hell, they look clean enough"... so I put 'em on... and it wasn't until I was going through airport security... RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DUDE... where you put your change and crap in the dish?... well... I figure I'm just gonna' toss out this handful of change... and I stick my hand in my pocket... and... uh :huh: "Oh sh*t..."

Yep... TSA wasn't too impressed as I dumped out a big handful of shells... damn... I got escorted out of the airport... a guy on each side and one behind me... fortunately I had enough time to start over and catch my flight anyway... but yeah... they didn't think those were nearly as cool as we did. :beer:

Here is a little update of my own for those who care to read it:

I went to this Friday on the lake deal at the local club house and there was music and fun and girls. I was outside toward the end and some kid was convinced that I was wasted. I told him that I had only drank water (which is true, oh, there was that Sprite too) but I don't think he believed me. I was in that odd purgatory between falling asleep and getting my second (more crazy) wind. Anyway, he asked me to walk a straight line and I, very kindly, told him to poo poo off because I was too lazy to stand up. Then the second wind came and I got really loud and talkative.

damn matt. That sucks. was awesome to meet and get to watch you work your magic. Glad I left my shell casings behind...

Penguin, was that story going anywhere? You start out with a lake and girls and the story just ends with you being loud and obnoxious after getting hopped up on sprite? WTF?

Most true stories I tell don't go anywhere. Especially the late night ones. I seem to get easily distracted and trail off and forget the point. Oh, well...
