1. I got this, but with the .43 lens and my footage has the black corners when I use it Is this normal, or would the $350 wide angle lens Canon makes not have this? Did I basically waste my cheddar?

2. Anyone know a filter in Final Cut Pro that would cover it up, something like in "The Illusionist" where they had the really soft but blacked out corners would probably work, but I don't know which filter in FCP would create this effect.

These cheap WA adapters are not made for the XH-A1 or HD quality. The XH-A1 lens is set in a little, so any 72mm WA lens has to be closer to the XH-A1 lens to not vignette. Try removing the macro portion and hold it in front of the XH-A1 to see if it still vignettes. If it doesn't, an adapter may work to hold it in place.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Does Canon's wide angle lens "vignette"?

The canon wd 72 wide angle is a zoom through... no vignetting at all.

Schneider WA are good too but not all are zoom through.. hence some of it will have vignetting

The canon WA comes also with a shade... for that price , it is in my option the best on the market, only complain is that it does not have a filter threat in front, but then , get a matte box for that...

not all is loss, the cheap WA you bought can be use when you need to do Micro staff, if you know how to use it , it is still an arsenal ....
