Am I the only one who's a little frightened by this?
Nigel Lockyer, director of Canada's TRIUMF national particle and nuclear physics laboratory at the University of British Columbia, said the endeavour could also produce tiny black holes and shed light on the existence of dark energy and dark matter.

Here's the article. ATLAS

Very exciting stuff. It could make a great starting point for a movie.

I posted about this a while back. There was a cool short story on Studio 360 about producing a mini black hole and then this whole industry that grew up around just keeping the thing from swallowing the Earth.

It's too difficult to accelerate the cows to 99.9% C. Their mass approaches infinity and if they tip in the accelerator ring, it would surely spell disaster.

Yeah... see John Titor was right:

"Williams noted that the upcoming research at CERN may lead to unexpected breakthroughs in time travel-- and that Titor had posted comments connecting experiments at CERN to the development of time travel. Williams has created several podcasts related to the Titor story, which can be viewed on You Tube."

This stuff is perfect for the Twilightfest!

Okay, so in a few weeks the Earth will be crushed in a tiny super dense ice cube. Got it. Thanks for the heads up.

Couldn't they wait until AFTER the Panasonic HMC-150 comes out for a few months. I was hoping to get one and now it looks like I won't because the world is coming to an end.

Tell me about it. Not to mention RED Scarlett.

I love this particle accelerator experiment. Great fodder for the sci-fi imagination. It really is quite mysterious as to what will happen and/or what this will lead to.

My prediction is that Howard The Duck will finally make it to Earth for real.
