FlyCam 3000 Pro - Test with Canon XH A1

Ever used a glidecam? How does the build quailty compare? Is it metal like the glidecam? How long was shipping from india? How much practice did you have when you made the video?

I never used a Glidecam so I dont know how they compare. The build quality is quite solid. No complains here from my side (all metal). Shipping took about 2 weeks without any problems. I had about 1 month practice with this Steadycam but the video I posted is far from perfect. It was all "fist take" without any retries. With more time you can achieve far better results.

I had a Flycam 5000 & body pod about 3 years ago and found the build quality not terribly good. The welds were insufficient, the assembly looked rushed and the mounting hardware (clamps, bolts etc...) were made from very soft metals & plastics that would strip & break really easily. I since sold it back on e-bay at a loss but then bought a full blown Glidecam system & an additional Pro2000 for hand held flying which I still use to this very day and am extremely happy with. The Flycam products seem to be identical knock offs of the Glidecam gear.

Perhaps the newer Flycam stuff coming out of India has improved, however, my experience with Flycam was that it was a case of you get what you pay for.

I made it longer with some pipes (like FlyCam 5000) and added some rubber tape here and there for stability.

i posted my comment. Overall i think something is wrong with the unit, unless you are brand new to steadicam'ing.

I fully agree with you. But like I said, if I try harder I can achieve good results for the price (used Merlin in the past and liked it more, but the price....)

I just bought a 5000 for my DVX, I like it, sure its not the same build as the Glidecam but its still good if you don't treat it like sh*t,eg tightening bolts too hard.
It real easy to balance and real easy to use. For the price, you can't get any better.
