as of today given a choice, the HPX3000 is the only HD camera i would use to shoot the stuff i shoot.
usual workflow, movement is so silky, image is so crisp and IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE VIDEO!

If the footage from the new P2 varicams look as good it will be a very exciting time for an already revolutionary age of digital cinema.

Nice one...
Never worked with the 3000, but the 2100 is already veeeery cool. To bad that buying is currently faaaaaaaar out of my range.

What kind of glass are you using?

You got screengrabs? :)

We hired the 3000 for 5 days to shoot a TV commercial here in Aus. I've worked on a lot a HD cameras and the 3000 with the P2 workflow was a dream. Very sharp clean pictures with no visible noise at all.
Currently we are using the 502 for a coporate shoot and you can tell why the 502 is a 1/4 of the price of the 3000 not just picture quality but built quality as well. Not to say I dont like the 502 but for me if it had a better resolution view finder and a little less picture noise it would be more than an awsome camera.
We're planiing on buying a 502 in a few weeks.

Just on the picture noise, what are some settings that some of you guys have that may help reduce it. For this shoot we're on at the moment I used a setting that Hunter supplied in a post here a while back.

Hi Gary, where on the Gold Coast are you located?

My settings for noise reduction

Detail Level -2
V detail level +2
Detail Coring + 4
Choma level - 2 to 4
Gamma - B.Press

Can I get an Amen?

Ah, the 3000. Love the camera, except for the lack of slo mo (frame rates up to 60 fps). Right now, I've got a bunch of 3000 footage, and am experimenting with various post-production tricks to slow it down with smooth results. So far the results are mixed, but I've got more to learn about Twixtor (AE plug-in many people swear by).

I have to agree that the 3000 is a fantastic camera. Image quality is by far best in the biz for the price, and avc intra is beautiful. I have had the 3000 for 2 months and the 500 for a year. I've also had a 200 for a couple years and find that each camera has it's place. I have some fantastic footage from the 3000... How would u like me to post it? Pro res 422 is too big.

Wow, beautiful pictures!

But the price is out of my range for now. I'm hoping Panasonic can bring full raster CCDs and the AVC Intra codec into the HPX500 replacement. DVCPro HD is only 1280x1080, and will probably never look as sharp.

That'd be the 2000. ;-)

morgster, spectacular pictures. Couldnt ask for a nicer location.

Truth be told, when I compare these to some of my HPX shots, whilst they are better I am not at all disappointed - I mean insofar as they dont blow them away.
