Hi:

Recently the microphone broke off of my canon xh a1 (consequently it wont record sound nor does it respond to the camera remote anymore) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on were i should send the camera to get fixed, how much should this cost around to fix, and has anyone else had this problem and how did it turn out? I have 3 years remaining on my MACK warranty but doubt they would cover this. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

David Brown

I am currently experiencing the exact same problem (the XH-A1 seems to have an extremely weak microphone), and have in fact just sent it to Mack Cam under warranty and am awaiting the result.

Yea, when i first bought the camera about a year ago, the mic seemed loose but it still worked. Over time it kept on getting more looser and now just hangs by a few wires. How did you report/explain the problem to the mack warrenty dcol64?

thanks

mmm, mine's a bit wobbly...
Perhaps it's time for me to take some superglue and/or epoxy and head off the problem at the pass.

recently while traveling through Europe, my mic got loose to where it was halfway detached. It was mainly from the rough handling with bags while traveling airport to airport....train to train. I took it to a repair shop in town and they quoted me $485 to fix it. I did not buy an extended warranty and of course the 1 year would not cover it. So it took it back home and Gorilla Glue'd it back on. It works perfectly now. Only cost me $5 and I figure if it stops working, I will just buy an external mic to attach via XLR and that is STILL cheaper than $485. Im not sweating anything.

The exterior mic comes standard a little wobbly. Its to shock away any camera bangs knocks etc.

It shouldnt be falling off though.

So yourselves a favour and get a decent mic.

Finally got mine back from Mack, fully repaired and functional again.

I simply explained the problem as "microphone doesn't work."
