One for the bike riders.

Yeah that's all dvx at 24PA (slowmo at 60i) except for the helmet cam. For that I used a panasonic HDC SD9. The downconverts from HD could be better. I'm still trying to improve on that.

I just learned about a program called Mercalli to cut down the shake with the cable shots, post production. Hopefully I can get those a little smoother.

How well does the program work?

Have no idea. I just learned about it this morning. :D

A buddy of mine has been using it with his cable cam and heli cam setups. He speaks highly of it and suggested I look at it after showing this to him. I'll be screwing around with it over the next couple of days. Might even do some before and after clips from this little sample.

Holy hell dude that is great footage! Did you use an ATV for some of the moving shots? What did you use as a jib?

Looks like a great place to ride. I envy you and these guys.

You're probably thinking of the cable cam shots. Just a low budget trolley made from hardware store parts and a 200' climbing rope. I do have a crane that I used in the first section. Just a cheapo proam jib. I'd kill anyone who brought a quad anywhere near these trails.

We all built every single inch of riding surface in the video. Trailbuilding is my other 'hobby' ;)

DUDE! Im coming to ride! The trails at the beginning are very nice. They look like the POSH trails. The second half of the vid... Those need some serious water! bring on the rain. Either way good **** and I am very jealous, trails in ontario= torn down or dirtbikes all over that ****. Live to Ride, Ride to Live

ho damn woo! good to finally see some of your footy. too bad we didnt get to do anything this summer, maybe this winter.

That's sick man. Ace. If you sort out some of the vibration-ness on the cable shots it could start looking real pro.

that was awesome man, im a proud dvx owner/trail builder as well =]
are those first sets in tahoe? they look super dialed

The forest service rules tahoe. We've got to drive a bit to find places to build. Those dirtjumps and the track I'm riding are in a buddy's backyard...guarded by huge chains and pit bulls with syphilis.

Yeah the cable stuff kind of kills it with the first few shots. It's a neat enough perspective, so I left them in. Those were literally the first few times we used it. The few later on in the vid were after we realized how still the line needs to be.

That mercalli program I mentioned earlier in the thread really does exactly what it says it does. It's pretty neat. As always, it's best to get the original footage as flawless as possible but I used that program for a little cleanup on some of that stuff. It takes whatever is constant in the frame and just immobilizes it. The only problem is that is has to upsize to then fill the frame since it cuts the in and out subject matter on the borders. You get a downrezzed frame but if it's just a little bit of wobble, I think it can be useful. Could be much more useful in HD since what you typically deliver is lower than original resolution.

Here's another rip of it with the cable shots and mercalli. Pretty big file (160MB) so only download it if you're really curious. :D

The most obvious benefit is at 2:19. 3:07 and 4:06 also got some love. Most of the other shots I left alone.
