Here is my super duper ghetto 35mm adapter rig.

I have had a few prior to this one. I am done with trying to make a working adapter. I now understand why the adapters cost as much as they do.

Yeah! DIY adapters are tough. It seems such a simple device... until you try to make one.

Tim, it had to be you with the Zacuto hand grips... those are straight up bling :)

this whole thread's gonna change now that the 170 will flip for us... I never liked optical flips, it is gonna be nice to see straight rigs

oh! I missed that shoulder pad waaaay back there... but at least you can use two monitors!

the only thing you can do is to get it even longer and add heavy batteries in the back. that or get a second little monitor, just a tiny one for framing... either way you have to compromise. there is no real solution short of ripping off the LCD and running it with an extension

Personally... I don't think having flip functionality will truly change things. The flip is only in the LCD and nowadays with DOFA Manufacturers optimizing their systems for flips... I think we'll still be on the same track. I think right-side-up is something that's going to remain in adapters.

Here's my HVX200 kit, redrocked out to the max. Just picked an indiSLIDERpro too - nice little solution for short dolly moves.

And I have to agree with jstunzi, the 170 flip won't change things too much... It only flips in the LCD, not in the recording. My carrion flips the image for me for monitoring; I really got the microx to make post easier.

I totally get what you are saying now... I didn't know that the image the 170 will feed out isn't going to be flipped! If that is in fact what you are saying.

But still, I guess I just don't get why everybody and their mother isn't getting a CARRION b from LSDesign, like Will on the post above did, who BTW has a very nice rig!

Alas, I have the "A" model. If/When I decide to upgrade to a HPX170, I will definitely want to send my Carrion back for the HD-SDI upgrade. Which won't be cheap :(
