Some of my C4D work...

Congrats, man! Nothing like doing what you want to be doing to pay the bills. :)

Damn right thanks Tom! I've done some graphics and video work before but this is my first true "3d" work. I'm still revising the animation and model right now almost done!

Also I'm pretty sure I'm going to be P A'ing a feature(around 4 million budget) here in St. Louis in 2 months! Hope I can network and maybe a window will open :). Probably just a small thing to some but big to me I'm excited!

Hi Josh. I think what you have works. Personally I'd might look for a little more transparency on the edges, maybe even a 'negative film' look.

I used to have a microscope as a kid and I always remember objects at that detail always had a high level of transparency. That and the focus. It was always really hard to focus in on the subject. Kind of like a very narrow DOF ( did I say that right?) . One touch on the dial and it was gone. Very hard to find again.

//But then again, maybe he's not looking for anything that artistic. :)

Thanks raptor I did refine it some yesterday will post sometime soon. I though about the negative effect I may look into it.

I also may play with the DOF more :).

hey triple congrats on the paid job, may this be one of many more to come! keep up the good work.

thanks a lot Anhar I sure hope to get paid again and again :). I must say when I first came on this board the 3d work of yourself, Raptor, oneinfin, and towerfan really inspired me to try 3d. Its a nice tool to have in the arsenal!

On the right track Josh. I think though you should be using DOF instead of fluctuating the blur.

There are several ways to do that in AE. One is to first render a multipass depth map in C4D and use that in AE to control the blur.
I have a tute around here on that if you need it.
//here's one of 3DKiwis tutes to get started...

I like the background and everything else though.

As for creating a negative in AE I'm sure it's easy but I don't know how.
An alternate way is to render an image sequence in C4D if you've not already done that, bring it into photoshop and batch process it.
If you need help on that I can write you a tute.

//Oh and if your creating negative images of everything but want to keep the same colors you have now, you need to render out the animation using the inverse of the colors so that post inverting will bring the colors back to the original. The lighting will be inverted though. You'll have to try it to see how it looks, may not even look good, I don't know.

//Oh, haha, and maybe try using a red on the background instead of blue to give the impression it's tissue.

Cool tips thanks raptor. I was messing around with expressions I used a expression on my focal plane and blur level for my AE camera. I have a depth map for it I guess I'll use it :).

Thanks for the tips.

On second thought I don't have a depth map I just remembered in C4D all I did was model the salmonella then then animate it from left to right. Then rendered the movie. Then in a separate C4D scene I drew a spline and animated a light on its path.

Then I exported the light scene to AE via the plugin and used my light as the emitter for trapcode particular to spit out my particles. Then used the C4D render of the salmonella as my particle.

I will just use the AE camera like I was with no expressions and just make the DOF more shallow.

Looks good Josh. I saw the C4Dcafe post also. Those guys over there sure know their bactera, hehe.
