Help: want to buy hpx500, lots of questions

i'm still pretty much new with steadicam as this is my first year, so i'm just practicing... still no complex shooting with telefocus and remote focus puller...
it's too early for me...

ok, anyways, with manual focus lens, i should be alright working with steadicam
for now, this is what worried me most...

so i guess i'm going for hpx500 instead of ex3 with this lens http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/252989-REG/Fujinon_A13X6_3BERM_A13x63BERM_2_3_13x_ENG_EFP.html

what do you think? or any other suggestions for a reasonable amount of
money and as much wide angle as possible?

you will get lots of opinions about lenses here. hd vs sd etc.

i'm sure that $8000 lens is great but unless you are bleeding cash, i would suggest spending $100-$300 for an older broadcast sd lens and see the images it produces. then take your cam to your local video supply and try out some $8000 lenses. i think then you will have a much better perspective and may not see $7800 difference between the two, if any at all.....

i was in the same boat as you. i was doubtful that an old lens could give me great images but based on similar advice from members here, i bought an old $150 canon J series zoom and the images are stunning.

i have seen footage from some of the higher end HD lenses that i do think is slightly sharper than what i can get but i will put the images from my lens up against any sub $10k HD lens.

there is a company called "bexel" here in california that sells used broadcast gear. they have an ebay store as well. i got my lens here...

ok, where do i get used lens? i live in lithuania :) not much of used SD lens for sale here :D none, to tell exactly :)

ebay. search for "canon broadcast"

any of the "j" series lenses will be great. make sure it is B4 mount and try to get one with a 12 pin connector. however, if you get a different connector, it can be changed to 12 pin.

fuji lenses are great too but it's kind of tricky. fuji lenses for this cam are "a" series. however they could be broadcast or professional series, which are cheaper, less quality. almost impossible to tell what you are looking at..

canon's "pro" lenses are called "yj" so it's easy to stay away from them. with that said, i haven't used any of the lower line sd lenses so they may be awesome....

right, so nobody suggest me, but i bought 10x5.3 for 11, like new condition. i'm happy :) now just have to get the camera, LOL :)

hvx or hpx ?

seems like i made a good choice.. i'm glad, can't wait to get the working package, so i could shoot first shots!
