HF10 in LA: Who's got one and Wants to come and play?

just got my HF10!!! omg such clear quality! if it had a focus ring, a zoom ring, and a few more manual feature (better manual appature) i would use this cam all the time.

I have class 6 SDHC cards from Kingston and Patriot and they work fine. Fry's has the Patriot 8GB Class 6 on sale for $29 this weekend. You get a little over 1 hour at highest quality with 8GB. Beats the sh** out of my p2 cards, stupid panasonic, J/K... I think.

Thanks for the reply Johnny. I'll look into it. I AM checking out one of the KITS that B&H has that includes a bag, 2 Kingston Class 6 8GB cards, the 819 batt, and the IMPACT DVS-WA45-37 37mm .45x Wide Angle lens...

Have you tried out any wide lens for this baby? They also have the Canon WD-H37C wide....i'm sure it probably has better glass than the Impact ....hmmm

any other recommendations?

Til later!

Anyone else used any wide or fisheye lens with this puppy yet?

Hi,

I have the Raynox HD5050 Pro which seems to do a pretty nice job. I've been busy as hell lately and more piled on, so I don't know when I'll be able to really do anything scientific with it, but it seems pleasing to the eye.

The Raynox lived on my HC1, and it also has 37mm threads, and it is a zoom through. It's a .5 wide, which is terrific. I don't know that I'd expect "Zeissian-optics" out of it, and will take it off unless I really need wide angle on a shot.

The HF100 clearly will shoot better in lower light than the HC1 or most any of the HDV cameras I've seen. I tend to think the audio is a bit flaky, but that can be managed. Most of the things that might come up as problems I see can be managed with some ingenuity. Quite simply, it's a terrific camera with tremendous possibilities.

If I can squeeze in some time over the weekend, I'll do some shooting with it before taking off next week for a location shoot.

BTW, there is a new version of TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress 4.5.1.254 that converts AVCHD to several CODECs. One of the conversions that works very well - assuming that you don't use Vegas (which is terrific - download Pro 8 and give it a whirl).

In order to get a non-standard HDV Transport Stream, click the MPEG output button.

Pretty much shows the settings. I shoot 30P and deinterlace in the filter settings.

This works in Premiere CS3

Hope this helps.
