Hey people,
This is probably my final draft for our production reel. Let me know what you guys think, there's a mixture of formats compressed down to NTSC 640x480.

re- pixelflow: i don't have the raw clip no more, it was finalized and archived by one of our editor. Also, i cut before she finished because she was on the edge of the screen, didn't look strong enough... and also since it's finalized, I can't remove the background sound on that scene.

Mixed formats includes:
Naked HVX;
DVX + Letus35a + Nikon;
HVX + LEX + Zeiss;
XHA1 + LEX + Nikon;
16mm;

Please feel free to speak your minds, no offense will be taken. But just know that i do have a heart =)

Thanks!

Well, I haven't watched it, but I LOVE that you used that wonderful piece from HEAT. Fantastic! I'll watch it now. :beer:

I agree with the above. I thought the sound from the very first shot with boots walking wasn't very good. Same when the girl is talking.

The visuals were very striking and beautiful. Maybe make some of the edits a little tighter. It's looking good!

Thanks for the review guys. The whole scene was a 5 minute dialogue scene with the gaffer from MadTV. You think just muting the sound putting music over would be put more production value into it? or does the sound just not flow w/ the rest of the reel?

Thanks!

to me the sound doesnt flow with the rest of the reel because the girl acting seemed a little weak and actorish to me. it reminded me of a monologue local actors are required to do fresh out of acting class.

your real looks very profesiional though good job.

Footage is awesome. I agree with the sound not flowing and I would cut about 1/2 second off that first pan. You hold it just a bit long. I wouldn't mind if it weren't the first thing we see. Great work!

Hello Willis, I think the placement and content of the monologue is terrific. If you don't have the original audio track, run an eq on it to filter off the highs. This will hide some of the original scene's background music. Also, the vocal ends abruptly. I would put a slower fade on it, even though the scene has finished. I also think the city lights scene could use a dissolve/fade in & out.
Did I mention I love this demo?

wow, thanks for the feedback guys. didn't know people were looking anymore. will definitely put these thoughts into consideration of changing it w/ my directors present. currently using the reel already for production pitches for a few projects, once things slow down, will update.

that first dolly pan was shifting focus onto the hands, i guess it didn't work out that well, that's a bust, need to change that...

zeiss lenses are agreed to be sick =)

some shots were stunning, and some not so much. So I'd say tighten it up a little bit and remove some of the slack,but overall very good looking compostions

Nice reel.

Your compositions are very pleasing to my eye. Easy and natural to watch. Exposure in majority of shots was great.

Not that I'm Mr. Expert but... for your dramatic shots, especially those toward the end, I would have liked to see you "push in". Even if you use a cheap dolly, keep that camera moving.

thanks guys =) i'd love that push-in. i got nothing good to push into though =/ i feel like this reel is already out-dated.
