TimeFest FINALISTS & Screening & Round 2 Voting Info

Some of that info will be shared (for those who are willing to have their identities made public) at/during the screening event. Suffice it to say that one of the panelists is one of the highest-grossing producers in Hollywood history, it'd be hard to get much higher.

What is this screening business you guys are talking about and why didn't I get an invite?

...The stars are not amused...

Kissing kidding. Rainfall received eVites and should be present on the 11th.

Can anyone help me out with whats the ideal way to take my Red 2:1 ratio stuff (thats right now sitting in a 2048x1024 ProRes timeline in FCP) and get that to 720x480 mpeg2? I think I'd like a slight amount of black bars to get it to 16x9 then anamorphic squeeze to get the best quality out of SD. Not sure how to best do that.

hi guys. i just like to congratulate all the finalist of this timefest. kudos to DVXuser.com for holding such a great film festival. is this the new SUNDANCE?

well, i really wanted to vote but it seems i am not eligible yet. i am rooting for O2 to win it. these guys should not be permitted to join any dvx festival again. c'mon fat monster, pick your own size. go to the big league. stop picking up the small guys. i'm joking. i like Survival, too. it conforms very well with the present festival theme, which is time. and about this great entry called: RPDM. well, to start with, this is what short film is all about. very well done. BUT ... i think it was entered in a wrong festival. maybe it is more appropriate in lovefest, or revenge fest, or better yet, drugs fest. and where is the time (clock) scene requirement? wait ... rewind ... boob sucking scene ... rewind further ... pumping scene ... rewind further more ... oh there you are, in the very beggining, which flashed on the screen for 1 second (maybe less). i thought this scene requirement should not be subtle. but it is really a nice film ... edit ... a GREAT FILM. i hope it will win an award in a major film festivals. but to win the TIMEFEST, you must be joking.

cheers

The entire film was based on a drug that slows down time. Definitely Time Fest. The mods okayed it and it definitely complies with the theme. I hate it when people second guess the mods and decide something is not "fitting with the theme". All that does is attempt to sway votes and can hurt films. ALL the top 8 comply with theme...now...which is your favorite is up to you.

suck it, dude.

Congratulations to all the Top 8.

I've looked in the original post but can't find a deadline for voting. Is it July 11th or is that for something else?

We haven't posted it yet... but voting for the 2nd round will close sometime the day of the screening, and before the actual screening begins (which is at 6pm pacific time).

A hard time will be announced soon by Larry.

Later

It'll depend mostly on when I get up and around Friday morning and scoot down to Panera Bread so i can use their WiFi. I'm staying with my cousin and he doesn't have internet at his place.

When I have a better idea of my itinerary for that day I'll announce the hard time. It'll be between 8am and noon Friday, June 11 (pacific time)

congrats on those who made it to the second round, I checked and saw I voted an 8 or higher for all of them so I'm glad they made it :D

good luck in the second round!

(hint - you can't describe what it's ABOUT without saying TIME or words related to TIME several TIMEs .... HOW does she get her revenge?)

SPOILERS ...

It's about a woman who experiences a traumatizing event that is even more horrific because she's under the influence of a drug that alters one's perception of .... TIME, specifically that things last much longer. So to enact her revenge she seeks out the killer makes him take the drug so that his death will last forever and be all the more horrible, and she takes the drug again herself so that killing him will last forever and her revenge will be all the more delicious. It's kind of obviously completely germane to timefest - unless it's you that's joking.

END SPOILERS

It's not called TICKING CLOCK FEST or TIME TRAVEL FEST or PAST FEST or FUTURE FEST.

it's called TIMEFEST and to qualify films must be centered THEMATICALLY around time.

Here's the definition of a THEME in case that's what keeps you from seeing how RPDM is apropos for time fest.

THEME:
2.a unifying or dominant idea, motif, etc., as in a work of art.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/theme

FROM WIKI
In literature, a theme is a broad idea in a story, or a message or lesson conveyed by a work. This message is usually about life, society or human nature. Themes explore timeless and universal ideas. Most themes are implied rather than explicitly stated.
Deep thematic content is not required in literature; however, some readers hold that all stories inherently project some kind of outlook on life that can be taken as a theme, regardless of whether or not this is the intent of the author.
Themes arise from the interplay of plot, setting, character, conflict, and tone.
The same story can be given very different themes in the hands of different authors. For instance, the source for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Matteo Bandello's The Tragical History of Romeo and Juliet emphasizes the perils of dishonesty and disobedience.

Some themes are as follows. To Kill A Mockingbird Growing up, racism
