Ohhh Ya,

The last post I made about this was deleted...

If this one gets deleted I'm hanging it up here and will never be back.

Chip

I think it was obvious that that thread was heading where all versus threads eventually go: fanboyish bickering. After 152 posts it's just the same points being rehashed over and over, with people making all sorts of wild assumption to defend "their" camera. It's beating a dead horse.

Hey,

Huy Vu... Hydra was a great thread and many more than 152 posts...

Shouldn't we be able to bicker if we want? Geez, if you don't like it don't read it!

It looks bad though for Jan and Panasonic...

Hey, if someone has a problem with me and what I say, that is ok with me. I wouldn't want the thread closed because I'm getting my ass whoopped...

PS I like your demo and other reels...

Thanks Chip. I personally hate those threads. Nothing ever gets resolved and people usually walk away with hard feelings. I don't know why some people are just so desperate to convince others that one camera is obviously superior to another. It comes down to personal preferences and that can't be change through debates. I've read a thousand reasons why the HVX is superior to the A1 for example (and those threads get locked in a hurry too). Well, I've used both and for me the A1 came out ahead. It's a personal choice, made after I've had a chance to try them both out. It's tedious to see the same arguments rehashed again and again.

Huy Vu,

Exactly!

I did hundreds of test on the HVX (no camera does everything) but for my needs it was THE best one out there. There was one time a couple weeks ago I almost sold it, this story is kinda funny, but, I met up with the Discovery Channel guys in Hay's Kansas (we were all shoting tornado docs), they were all shooting on the little new sony V7 HDV cameras, well anyway thier producer has an HVX and made me an offer to buy one of mine. It came close to being a deal but at the last minute I changed my mind and decided I couldn't part with it. It'll be a great B cam for next year to complement my next Panasonic purchase.

The reason why I made the post I did is not because the sony ex-1 is a better camera, for what I do my test determind I couldn't use it for run n' gun / car dash cam because the resolution goes to hell but because we are here to share our experiences. Good or bad but thats how we learn.

We all know by now that Jan is a class act and didn't have to resond to those questions that become never ending. Want a CMOS camera then go buy one :):) Not for me, but it is the point about why we are here and lets not close threads beacuse of bickering. Geez, look at us... It's more about freedom of speech.

Thanks for saying something to me!

Chip

PS Huy Vu, The Discovery Channel Camera guys that were shooting on the sony V7's told me they like the HVX better, they all work for a company called Original Productions that also filmed a sled dog race with something like 15 or 20 hvx's that should be out sometime in late 2008?

I also thought there was nothing new on that thread for a long time.

But why lose a valuable resource because of one thread.

Not certain why anybody would do that.

As to freedom of speech -- doesn't apply here.

This is a private board and the mods and Land set the rules.

Threads are closed at the discretion of the moderators here. This place is not a place for endless bickering though -- if you want to bicker, or talk politics, or talk religion, or talk about the porn industry, or insult other members, or trash other message boards here, or try to poach our members over to another site, or spam your services here, you'll find that there's quite a few restrictions on your freedom of speech. We encourage intelligent discussion. We moderate threads where tempers get heated or people step out of line. We encourage an exchange of information, and we discourage the beating of dead horses. We'd much rather the membership get out and shoot something, than sit here and argue about HDV vs. DVCPRO-HD once again.

This is one of the most successful, largest, most valuable information services on the web for filmmakers, largely because the moderatorship actively and pro-actively moderates it. We intend to continue doing so, and hope that our members continue to progress and advance in their careers and knowledge.
