"Berlin" - A Norm Sanders Film - DVD NOW AVAILABLE

More "Official Selections" and now nominations!!

More "Official Selections" and now nominations!!

Still trying to nail down an exact available date for Hubers and our Cast/Crew party.

Just found out that BERLIN is now an "Official Selection" for the 9th Annual Real to Reel Film & Video Festival, in Shelby North Carolina.

Also, BERLIN has been officially nominated for BEST SHORT SCORE (Way to go Herman!) for the 2008 AOF fest. Awards will be announced and given out on July 31st.

EDIT/UPDATE: And the emails keep coming in from the AOF Fest site ... BERLIN's now been nominated as well for BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY SHORT as well!!

For anyone that's already rec'd their copy of BERLIN, I'd look forward to thoughts you'd like to share on the film, DVD contents, etc. Either here, or privately via PM! :) Ideally, I may be looking for things I can quote from as well for future marketing...

Third nomination for BERLIN in 2008 AOF Fest

Thanks, Brandon! Which film were your nods for, and what were they (or just point me to the thread)?

Going to have to update my little festival leaves! :) BERLIN just got another nod from the fest for BEST ART DIRECTION. James Eubank should be happy to hear that!

Sweet!!

I got two nominations so far.

"Welcome to the Party" - BEST HORROR SHORT FILM

"IRH: The Flight of Apollo 11" - BEST PRODUCED SCREENPLAY

Excellent, Brandon! I had to inquire with them to see how many nominations are given out in each category (just to make sure it wasn't a ploy to get filmmakers to cough up for the dinner/awards ceremony, lol), and they cap it out at 5 nominations per category.

That said, with BERLIN already having 3 nominations so far (and I'm praying for more), I'm leaning heavily towards seeing if a buddy wants to go with me down there. Since BERLIN is also screening the same day of the awards dinner (the 31st), it'd be great to take in the last day or so of it all. Not to mention at the dinner they'll have Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones (met Vinnie on X-Men 3 set - super cool guy) there as guests! :)

Yeah, for sure!

If you make it down, give me a call, I'll be there for the entire festival, and the awards show/dinner.

You already buy your ticket? Sounds like it's Tuxedo only (black tie), and $150/ticket.

I did buy it already...

they call it "black tie"... I've gone the last two years wearing a nice button-up shirt, slacks and dress shoes... it's Hollywood... California.. casual rules :)

RSVP for the "Berlin" Cast & Crew Party!!

RSVP for the "Berlin" Cast & Crew Party!!

* In an attempt to cover all my bases, I'm posting this here as well as MySpace & Emails - this is for Cast & Crew only, but if you'd like a special invite, I'll see what I can do  *

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to give you the final date for the LONG AWAITED Cast & Crew party for “Berlin”….

When: Wednesday, July 23rd 6:00pm to 9:00pm + (those wishing to stay later can migrate back to the bar)
Where: Huber’s at 411 SW Third Ave., Portland, OR 97204 (503) 228-5686
RSVP by Friday, July 18th!!!

Some things to know: Huber’s was gracious enough to reserve the front section of their restaurant for us (making it minor friendly, for anyone attending who may not be 21+), but I need to get them a headcount ASAP, so reply by the above requested date on the number of people attending in your party (usually yourself & one guest). Feel free to show up fashionably late, as we won’t screen the film until 7:30, allowing folks to eat & mingle before hand. After the screening, I’ll be handing out a DVD and Poster to everyone that was on Cast/Crew. Additional DVD’s will be available for purchase at a discounted cash price of $10/each (that night only), for those who may want to get extras as gifts, etc.

So please, bring a guest, some money to be able to eat & get some drinks with (they’ve got very reasonable pricing, with most items in the sub $10-20 range on entrees, and are FAMOUS for their Spanish Coffees!) so we can thank them for all they’ve done for us & the film, and get ready to be impressed with the quality of work you ALL had a part in creating!

So far the film is being widely accepted, and has now been officially nominated for THREE awards at the 2008 AOF Fest in Pasadena, where Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones will be special guests:
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
BEST SCORE
BEST ART DIRECTION (Congratulations James Eubank & Team!! – this nomination came out shortly after I sent out the prior email)

Several more festivals I’ll be sending out to shortly, and at least 10 that I’m waiting to hear back on as they get closer to their final submission dates/closings!

Thanks & please let me know if you’ve got any questions or concerns … I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Norm

p.s. I’ve already mailed out copies of the DVD to those who I knew are unable to attend the Cast/Crew party due to location, scheduling, etc … if you’re unable to attend, PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR PHYSICAL ADDRESS so I can ship the DVD off to you. Unfortunately, due to shipping costs and a completely exhausted budget, I’m unable to ship the posters.

congrats on the AOF Fest selection and all the noms! I was just running through the lists this morning (I'm on their mailing list for some reason) and I saw "Berlin" and it clicked - "I bet that's Norm's movie!" Nice job! Looks like a good fest.

Thanks, John. :)

Minor Updates on BERLIN:

Finally had the Cast & Crew party last night. I believe it was a success, and would look forward to anyone's feedback on here that was able to attend it. General feedback I rec'd from people were that the film turned out better than they could have hoped, or thought it would ... I'm not sure really what to think of that, lol, but hopefully it's not a reflection of what they thought of me, but perhaps other projects they've been on with friends, or who knows what. Everyone also seemed impressed with the overall DVD, Poster, etc., which was fun to be able to finally give to everyone.

This Saturday the awards will be announced for the 9th Annual Real to Reel International Film Festival, held in Shelby, NC. I should know by Tuesday if BERLIN was able to walk away with a BEST PICTURE in the short category or not ... no idea what other films it's up against.

I will be attending the Action On Film (AOF) Festival in Pasadena, where BERILN is currently nominated for BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY, BEST SCORE, and BEST ART DIRECTION. It would be great if it can walk away with at least ONE of them, especially since it looks like I'll shell out the extra $150 to attend the awards dinner ... now, what to wear, lol? I'll be attending the screening of the film on the 31st (while in town to visit a client for my day job), so I'm especially excited to see an unbiased audience reaction to the film, as all I've had see it so far are people that know me to one degree or another, or Cast/Crew who were involved in the making of it.

That's it for the moment. Thank you everyone for your support with the purchase of the DVD, and spreading the word! The DVD is PACKED with as much BTS and extras as could possibly be fit onto it, so hopefully there's stuff for everyone on there. :)

Norm, I would have loved to have been at the cast / crew party, but you guys are just so far away...

I DO want to get a DVD from you though. I'll check through this thread for details.

Thanks, Tom. Heck, hopefully I could just hand deliver it to you next week, but in all reality if I got it out by tomorrow or Monday, you may still have it sooner.

It's on the 1st page of the thread, or here: www.berlin-themovie.com

I've got a bunch of posters left still, though not sure how much market there would be for them, not to mention the shipping/packaging of them isn't cheap ... hmmm.

Actually, hand delivery sounds great to me. It will cut out the hassle of having to ship it and everything. I've got a full week and weekend ahead of me anyway, so I wouldn't be able to get to watch it until next week sometime.

I'm pretty certain I'll be able to make it to the party and this will give me another reason to make it out there... :)

Just rec'd an email that BERLIN is an official selection at the 4th Annual SoCal International Film Festival. Not sure how big of a deal that one is, but they've had some fairly good films submitted to them in the past, look like they have some good awards/nominations available, and they even ask for those who are traveling to attend, if they'll need a hotel room paid for or not (cool in my book!).

It takes place in Huntington Beach, CA, Sept 9-14. I'll see if I can line up another customer visit down there as well, if it's appropriate and the timing works out!
