Time Is With Us Every Minute

thx for the comments all.

It fails (probably for the millionth time), he starts drinking, wakes up on the beach and can't remember how he got there so he thinks he's traveled back -- but no, he just got drunk and passed out in the sand. Do I have it right?

yeah that's exactly right. the initial clues were that he notices that he lost his watch on the beach, in the final scene where the "time travel chamber" didn't work he 's pissed and takes off the watch (explaining why he didnt have it on the beach)

another was the empty bottle in the background in the beach scene, but it's probably too subtle especially with the grainy image and crap on the lens, haha.

during editing I thought it wasn't clear so I added the voice in the chamber saying "system failure" then in the end scene it would continue "..repeat system failure" I hoped it would make the connection between the scenes stronger.

If so, shouldn't the date on the paper have been June 3rd (the next morning)?

haha yeah that would've made more sense, in the film he wakes up the same day. If I had a paper for the next day he'd think he really traveled in time even if it was just one day and it would've given him more hope. would've been interesting too :D

Basically the idea was to make a typical time travel film without actual time travel but transport the audience's view in time and place by messing with the chronology.

Nice cinematography and story. I really liked the time machine chamber... very cool set design there with the lights coming up and that other device rising up... and I figured he just got drunk on the beach at home once I saw the bottle on the beach :)

Job well done! I really like it, very nice sets and shot composition. Very simple which is great, the action carried it nicely. I laughed when I saw it the first time because I thought he tried to travel back in time but ended up on the beach, same day, and went back to the lab and tried it again, this time it fails so he just grabs the bottle and gives up, lol. But obviously I wasnt paying enough attention the first time.

Did you use an adapter or anything besides just the 100AE?

Wesley, I really liked this short. It was shot well and after seeing umpteen movies about time machines, it was nice to see one that didn't work and just made a statement about not getting do-overs. The production values was here, too.

Congratulations and you should be proud of this effort.:thumbup:

And it was all told in a short amount of time!!!

I’m not sure I got this film due to the ending musical cue. It started out and continued great until the end. The location of the lab is super cool! How did you find this place?. I too used Kevin’s music in my film. (gardener scene). With the music, were you going for this twilight zone feel?

The target date was is my birthday J

Congrats on entering the fest.

Well this is the shortest movie I have seen so far. I liked the app's name and the lab scene. The story was a little bit confusing. Why was the guy on the beach if the test was a failure? Maybe he should have stayed right where he was with his hair all burned or something like that ;-). Anyway, you did a nice job entering the fest! Congrats!

I liked this, confusing at first but watched it a couple more times (i liked richard oerlemans) and thought it good, thank you.

I think you beat the Fat Monsters in terms of set. I LOVED your use of that lab and it all felt so real and functional. I liked the sounds you added in too, and the little thing that went up and down.

Your shooting was very tight and professional as well.

not to mention the fact that it was completely wordless. Nice work.

I think it was a little confusing. I had to rewatch it and scrub the timeline to get it. You might have been a little too coy with your clues. But that might just be an argument over choice, and not filmmaking.

Hey,

Just caught the flick. I liked the concept and the simplicity of it all. The time machine not working is great and your attention to detail is wonderful. The lab and acting really worked for this piece, as did the shots and sound effects.

The editing, on the other hand, kills me. I think it's needlessly achronistic and, for my money, cutting it in this way doesn't help the story at all. It just makes it confusing.

But I loved this idea and I thought the execution, sans the editing of mixing the different scenes up, was great. Good work.

Loved the look of this film. All the shots were really nice, with some great camera movement. Great set too.

I didn't get the story until I saw some of the comments here. It's a cool idea, but it doesn't quite communicate the way it's presented.

Excellent production values, good pacing, and an enjoyable short. Congrats!
