"Out Of Time" by Jonathan Killoran

Hey,

Just caught the flick. I enjoyed it. There were some technical issues here and there. Mainly with the audio, I think. I thought the recording could have been better acted and the sound maybe tweaked but still, I liked that.
I thought the "benefactor," whom I'm assuming did the operation, kinda came out of no where. I like how you played him in the BG. However, the bit where the guy is saying sort of the key character bit is way too forced for my taste. On that note, I liked that you had him in the cemetary, but it was hard to tell if he was happy or not to be there. I think you should use that scene to get the stuff that he says out. Otherwise, he actually kinda comes off likable. He seems to be the only person visiting the grave of this dead person which, in my mind, is commendable.

I thought many of the shots were great. The close-ups worked really well for you. The zooms I enjoyed here and there but I would watch how much you do it. The lighting, especially during the operation could have been moodier, for my money. I also liked what you did with the effects. The blood at the end is fun as hell and the heart. Well, it works in some ways and doesn't in others.

I would also look for economy of shots. Like when you get the CU of the kid opening his chest to reveal the tape. We know it's there, you've showed us already. And I think you lingered too long on it. Also, I think there were great opportunities for you to work some of him (whether comedic or not) trying to find a way to get the bomb out.

Otherwise, a valiant effort and I can only imagine how great your up-coming works will be. This was a fun flick, shot well and helped by the imagination put into it.

I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. I'm sure that this started out (for you) as a serious piece. Having seen where the edit was going, you should have taken it deep into the heart of camp.

This film started out pretty strong and went down hill fast. Looks like you guys couldn’t wait to have another horror fest. I’m not a fan of the pan and zoom camera work and the bad acting didn’t help matters. The audio and sound FX need some proper mixing.

I do however; think the story and premise were promising. Technically, this film needs a lot work.

Why do you have guys laughing at the end shot with the watch? Keep working and making films. You are only bound to improve.

Let me get to the point fast. Your premise was good and original. The acting could use work as could the cinematography as at points it was a bit distracting (especially with the zooms) I thought too much time was allocated to the death (no pun intended) I think realistically if your heart explodes inside of you, you won't be on the ground screaming for that long, but what do I know about exploding hearts? Nothing. At any rate, good job I look forward to seeing what you do next. Good luck.
