"RPDM" by Two Bears One Cup

In the past few days, DVXusers Ben Sliker and Justin Kuhn sat down and chatted over AIM while simultaneously watching the same TIMEFEST films. We call them, "The AIM sessions". Here's their thoughts on "R.P.D.M."

happygobo (8:40:21 PM): I dug the hell out of the editing
happygobo (8:41:12 PM): I liked all the crossers they had in the party scene where she gets her revenge
happygobo (8:41:23 PM): that let a great edit happen
TheBrad84 (8:41:37 PM): i guess my quick nitpicks would be:
TheBrad84 (8:41:38 PM): title color is a bit distracting in that ugly yellow, blood may be on wrong side of face, that one deliver that you mentioned was a bit weak, he needed to be slightly more exaggerated while being strangled
spesliker (8:42:00 PM): i'll jump on that bandwagon. your movie is awesome. Your yellow title however, blows large hairy goat sack.
happygobo (8:42:07 PM): there was a nice color change after the gunshot though
spesliker (8:43:09 PM): I give it 12.2 blue stars

So there you have it. we loved your film guys. we'd have to just make shi* up to try and tear it apart. :thumbsup:
 
Mark, this is definitely my favorite film from you. This one felt very polished and pro.. It totally had a director's vision applied to it.. lots of minor things here and there that made me feel like I was watching a directors movie, not just a movie.. (hope that makes sense because I can't think of any other way to describe it right now)

Acting, lighting, camerawork were all top-notch. I love the lighting effect for the shotgun blast and that is a wicked practical effect at the end with that wide shot of the body... sick.. :)

You got one of the highest ratings I've given out so far and it's totally deserved. I can't wait to see what you'd do with a feature and a decent budget.

As in , 'Two Paws' (which was my former bosses name, serious) I guess you meant 'Two BEERS One cup' ?
See how that takes a different meaning?

Hi Mark

Sorry I don't have time for a more in depth review, but I thought this was great.

You managed to take the audience on a convicing ride into a slightly askewed reality, with some real skill. I think it's one of the most brave entries into the festival. It's not often I see a really unqiue idea that grabs you, but also succeeds on all other fronts too.

Top marks guy. The best ideas are really clear and simple, and watching this is a lesson to me to try to remember that.

In my opinion R.P.D.M. is a much stronger film than o2, not to mention more entertaining (is that still something people look for in films?). I'm not taking anything away from o2, becuase o2 is well made and looks great.... it just falls short in the story department in my opinion. I compare it to The Moment After in that respect, because both are well made, beautifully shot Red films, and both just aren't fleshed out enough in the story department.

Those are my top three films of the fest btw
