Im looking into a consumer type camera for a family member but I see that these two models look the same but the price range is signifigantly different. What is the difference the features are the same and it looks just like it.

I guess you mean the HF10/HF100?

The HF10 has a 16GB memory card built in, as well as the slot to take external SDHC cards. The HF100 only has the slot (i.e. no internal memory). That's where the extra. Opinions vary (astonishing, eh?) as to whether the extra cost for the internal card is good value or not

And the hf10 is black.

They are both AMAZING except the wind noise overpowers the audio in the slightest breeze. I have their little stereo shotgun mic on order, comes complete with furry doodad. My Sennheizer would sort of dilute the portability advantage...

Great crash cam, except AVCHD has few editing or conversion options so far.
Too bad Panasonic's AVCHD to P2 converter only works with Panasonic AVCHD.

BTW, apparently you can rename and restructure a few files and burn a regular DVD that will play full HD in a blu-ray player, as AVCHD is one of the blu-ray codecs.
