Another new app for native MXF in FCP

I'm very tempted to buy it now just to see how well it works! Guess I could try the demo...

Wait -- if I'm reading this properly, this Calibrated DVCPRO-HD Decoder for OSX should make it possible to view HD MXFs on a system that doesn't have FCP installed, as well, correct? So people who want to use a field laptop Macbook or G4 or MBP, which doesn't have FCP, could still run P2CMS or view the clips in Quicktime in HD?

Been using it- works like a charm. Easy view with sound in QT player and import into FCP with nary a hitch. A great little app that plugs a hole that needed plugging.

It doesn't do anything to the metadata. All it is really is a QT component that allows you to open the MXF file in QT with audio attached. That right there is cool. But unlike Raylight, it doesn't create proxies, and therefore doesn't show you the metadata like Raylight does. And while it does allow you to import this into FCP, it doesn't add any fields for data, and we know that FCP ignores 98% of the metadata.

It is just an option to open the files in QT with audio attached, and allows import into the FCS apps...and the separate application allows you to open the MXF files without needed FCS installed. Two applications...the first requires FCS to be installed, so it might rely on the DVCPRO HD codec that is installed with that package.

Great find Noah.
