"RPDM" by Two Bears One Cup

Lol, Jim were you typing while I was posting mine? The posts are basically identical point for point, but you say what I do in about 1/4 the words. :D

I think the majority opinion is clear, so let's all avoid a dogpile effect if we can in order to not have the thread totally and utterly derailed with this conversation.

Basically I'd like to end the "for the fest not / accusation or not" discussion so we can stay on topic, but we need to give Skylz the last word if he wants it.

Yeah Jack, you made an excellent argument, I'm just a little "tired" after my first night out since I arrived back on the east coast; and a day full of editing.

Agreed about not derailing the thread. This film has , "wish I could have made it" status with me. Really well done and stylistic. Don't mean to add to the distraction.

OK I just rewatched this and there are two things that I some how didn't catch onto the first time. The reference to a soldier "speeding" through an hour of killing and it seeming like seconds and the part at the end where she says she will have a year to kill him in seconds. That is time manipulation, all other references to time seemed like they weren't being manipulated i.e. "imagine having an orgasm for a day". When I first watched it the dominating theme seemed to be drugs, maybe that threw me off a bit. So I somehow missed those two vital pieces that would of definitely convinced me this was done for timefest. I blame no one for that but myself...and miller lite. I can't think of another time I have been more wrong. I apologize to Mike Harris and anyone else who has been associated with the hard work put into this awesome short.
My intention was not to accuse anyone of cheating, I just had my doubts. Lapse in communication judgment. Zak..could of done without all the cussing though.

Oh and I did read the rules, long time ago, I was aware of the clock or watch being required.

Now on with the praise of this short. Just forget I was ever here. :)

I appreciated your apology and explanation STYLZ. No biggie. Now, let's go over to Rogan's thread and laugh at his bare white ass.

What can I say? This is simply one of the coolest films in the fest and I truly enjoyed it. In fact I've thoroughly enjoyed it each time I decide to watch it (yet again). This is a perfect example of the awesome work that DVXFests can pull out of filmmakers.

I love that this film has an honest-to-goodness bad guy. And though he doesn't have a lot of screen time, he still provides us viewers with a satisfying conclusion to the story. The payoff in this film is tremendous!

Clever, stylish, sexy, and sufficiently violent.

Friggin' awesome short!

I would give this 10 stars but I doubt whether or not it was made for timefest as I do many films I've seen so far

people had plenty of time to make these films, it's just this guy obvisouly didnt wait until the last minute and slap something together that's all plus he had a talented crew and was not a one man band. i'm willing to bet if you gave him the same time frame and made up a different set of rules he'd be able to do it again if not even better.

it's funny how if something looks "too good" people start assuming people took the easy way out. i'd take that as a compliment if you made that statement about me. that's means my sh^% is tight :)

Stakes are somewhat high in these fests for a number of reasons, among them:

  1. Winning. It's very competitive and people want to win the trial by fire, test their mettle. It's the desire to be the best. So people's level of investment in terms of their heart, time, and sometimes pocket book is high.

I realize that I have number 2 as number 1... but you try and quote only number 2 in the format of your numbered list! It doesn't work!

I can tell you... ALL of you... that as an ordinary guy... there is basically one formula for happiness, and this is it:

For me to be happy, all I really desire is the respect of honorable men... and the love of beautiful women (or maybe just one).

DVXuser has evolved in an incredible way... with remarkable people rising to the top. It's like the $1 bet between the rich guys in Trading Places... the bragging rights to win in a contest of brilliant competitors is more valuable then physical prizes. I'm sure that the filmmakers on the top level of DVXuser are not driven by anything more then the satisfaction of breaking the tape as the leader in a pack of leaders.

*end Chariots of Fire theme here*

11, because you delivered boobs.

I want to thank Mark on behalf of myself and 14 year olds all over the country because in Mark's thread (back in November) "Wonder what the next fest will be..."

...I replied "Breast Fest"... and BAM! Mark delivers!

I haven't read any posts in this thread, nor do I care to but I wanted to say that this was an extraordinary film. I have watched about 15 of the entries so far and this, in my opinion, is the most original. Executing such a complex story in the visual way you did was a great achievement.

Excellent acting, excellent editing, excellent cinematography and a perfect soundtrack.

Every movie has its flaws but with this one, I didn't even care or want to find them because, if they were there, I didn't see them.

Really nice work.

boooooobs.

opening lines reminded me of spun, that's not necessarily a bad thing. I like being reminded of spun.

Definitely a good flick.

I especially liked the color change combined with a ramp to slowmo when the bad guys first walked in, and the way you did the gun shot too. Everthing in those moments; sound design, lighting, camera, was all perfect.

This one is one is definitely in my top 3.

Can RPDM help me finish my movie on time next time?

This film is so intricate that I felt like it was a long film and not a short. I was very involved with the characters and they seemed so round that I was invested in them. Wonderful job by the writer of the screenplay, great directing ,and great acting! :D What a solid film. :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

best film i've seen so far in the competition i still have a few more to see, but by far the best.

and god bless you for putting boobage. god bless you all.

Great job Mark! I have to watch this one again just to learn. Love the varied frame rates. Just simply looks great. Congratulations.

JP

I like the detail of the signature picture of Mark Harris for the drug.

That is actually J.R. "Bob" Dobbs from the Church of the Subgenius, a counter-culture regular from the 80s. I had always loved Subgenius, and when I put Bob in the film, and asked permission, they LOVED it and wanted to be a part.
