Ok...finally installed Speed Edit...now what?

Chris, I don't know what's wrong, but there's something wrong. All you have to do is drag the video file in, and the audio comes with it. I just upgraded to 1.5.5, tried it again, and it works just fine.

SpeedEdit should be completely painless. I don't know what's going on with your footage.

Wait, maybe I do -- did this footage come from a FireStore?

audio is not attached. how do I attach it?

Hi,

Here's what I do.

I take the "Contents" folder with all the sub folders from the P2 card to the hard drive.

Then when you grab one of the video clips in the hard drive from the "VIDEO" folders, the audio clip in the "AUDIO" folder will be identified by Speed edit.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Im away from my cpmputer but will check all your advice asap.

Barry
I didn't use a fire store. Filmed straight to 16GB cards

when you say "drag", do I drag the footage on top of the speed edit Icon on my desk top? will the footage know where to go?

drop and drag sounds amazing. but doesnt work when I do it :( speed edit didnt recognize the footage, i couldnt find it in the file bin or anywhere. Then speed edit just crashed on me. and it isnt the computer because im running the software on a monster dedicated soley to speed edit.

Im stumped. But I have my tapes, and will edit on those for now

step by step what I do:

fire up external hard drive with footage.

double click the speed edit icon on my des top, which brings up speed edit

select "My Computer" on the speed edit interface

about a dozen hard drives pop up. each representing a partition where my footage is stored on my external hdd

select a drive (say, drive "J")

Sub folders pop up. Audio. Video. Voice. Proxy. plus a couple of more.

I double click the video folder and all of my clips begin popping up. The clips work. I can drag them into a time line. But with no audio

Audio is left behind.

I double check the audio files in the Audio folder. Audio is there. just not linked with the video

So...this is what I do. How do I unite the video with the audio?

what am I doing wrong?

Hi Chris,

Have you ever dragged a file from a remote drive to another drive?

The 16GB card is a Flash hard drive and should be "seen" as a lettered hard drive once the P2 drivers are installed on your computer.

Using the USB, which is what I'd recommend, you hear an audio cue when an new hardware drive is found, see the drives, then be able to drag the "Contents" folder to the hard drive on your computer.

Then open SpeedEdit, create an HD project. Under Window>Add Media - navigate to the Video folder and you should see the MXF media. Adding any of those clips should also add audio.

Good luck. This is working okay for for all of us who are using it.

I don't have any experience with P2 cards or SpeedEdit, but just from reading through this thread it seems like the problem may be that he has already taken the footage off the P2 cards long ago and onto his hard drive.
