I'm shooting some weddings with a panasonic dvx100a and b... I noticed that they do not have 1/8 audio plug-ins... only XLR. Does anyone know any decent lav mics that work on the dvx?? or just in general the best one to buy?

Thanks so much!

i got the at4073a from bh for $570
its really good.

the other thing you can do is get a 1/8 to xlr adaptor

Thanks!! B and H photo is great, they actually give you what you order ha. Any Ideas on some less expensive ones... maybe under $300....

azden maybe? even newegg has that. (better shipping and faster than bh)

if you have a good mic now, but its 1/8 jack then I would just get an adaptor for it then once you get paid, invest it in a better mic, audio is a big deal when it comes to shooting.

I have a Rode NTG-2 and its an awesome mic for the $$. The Rode Video mic is not far behind. And I believe the Azden Shotgun mics are rubbish as well.

There is no one microphone suitable for every purpose.

If you are going to buy only one right now, it would have to be based on what you plan to do with it the most. You really can't decide without knowing that first.

Before you spend your hard earned cash on a mic or wireless setup, I "strongly" suggest you invest in Barry Green's and David Jimmerson's DVD, "Sound For Film & Television".

This is a very small investment that covers 99% of what you need to know about recording sound, mic selection, wireless mics, room analysis, and much more.

Also, Matt does a great job of showing the use of his sound recording tools to get the best results.

I know this may sound lik an advertisement for the DVD, but I've had a couple of Video I & II classes and this covers all they did and more.

Good luck.

NTG2 fits the bill, however - remember - accessories: aka shockmount, boom, wind gear. Check out the Audio section of the forums. And -

I second the DVD recommendations 100%... you'll probably save far more money getting that.

great idea

great idea

forget all the wired mics get a wireless system then from the same manufacture and your wireless get a transmitter that turns any mic into a wireless like this one.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/286745-REG/Azden_WXTPROF1_VHF_Plug_In_Transmitter.html

That way when you shot say a wedding or a function or anything that has a sound system you take that transmitter and plug into there systems out and presto all the audio is now being recored ... I shoot for TV new i have and Azden shot gun and one of there wireless system and i just bought there transmitter that can make any mic wireless so now i can us my shot gun wirelessly and even pull it off the camera for interviews ... oh and whoever was bashing Azden I love my system so there lol lol
