Think I'll go with the XH-A1

I haven't been keeping up with new video products for a while and have been doing a lot of reading the past 2 days. I want to upgrade to HD. The HVX200 would be great with it's P2 technology but I can't justify the price for my needs. Perhaps I'm missing something, but from all the clips I've seen in the past week I like the XH-A1's picture quality best. It also looks great with the Letus Extreme.

I'll agree with pastor. BUT... i think you'll get the same answer from almost everyone on this forum. Why? Because we've spent between US$3-4 thousand dollars on our basic kit and human beings will intrinsically defend our decisions. No one really wants to admit they were wrong. I don't.

Want a more objective view? Go to other camera forums with the same post. They may not be so charitable to the Canon, but you might get some more objective opinions since they're not vested in the cash commitment. They might even be a little snipey, but if you want A1 love... this is the place.

unTripp makes a valid point. But even so Id like to wholeheartedly agree with Pastor Thug. For the price its a winner.

I'm in too ... the XH A1 it is. I've researched for quite some time ... and am ready to step up from my HV-20, which I plan to hang on to as I learn my way into the XH A1.

Don't imagine I'll ever be near as good as most here, but as long as I can get good action of my retrievers "at work", that's enough for me!

I also plan on getting a Kessler Crane - it can get places for images where dogs run that I can't or don't want to.

My thanks to so many here who have unknowingly offered their expertise. You guys are a wealth of information and please know that while some of us remain silent as we learn - we truly appreciate your insight and all you have to offer.

I've been pouring over the A1/HVX reviews for months now as I plan on upgrading from the 100b. Got the A1 the other day and can say first hand that the picture and camera are incredible. No doubt if I would have gone with the HVX I'd feel the same about it.
Just getting start on the HDV workflow so to early to comment on that but the so far so good.
As impressed with the A1 that I am, I won't be getting rid of my 100b's anytime soon though. Different tools for different jobs. It's nice to have both and having both just reinforces the thought that no one camera does it all and neither camera makes me a better user.....
