Music Video - HVX + SG PRO

I wouldn't change much! I liked the song too so I might be a tad bias here though but not much.

The only thing I saw technically was the HVX's noise, but as soon as you get a 200a or 170 you'll be set :) I think there might be a few things to change on the editing at the climax, but hardly anything that NEEDS to be changed, just a bit of room for improvement, but not much room at that.

GREAT use of a confined space. I really like that it is the same room though, and that helps by heaps... loved the wall paper, and furniture! and the casting for the guy was near perfect... the only thing I would have wished for is a bit better performance, but like with the editing, there is very little room for improvement.

I would have tried to tell the singer to get a tan though hehehe!! you might have already tough... and he might have said no.

I'd give it an A- but from an audience pov I'd give it an A+!!! EXCELLENT STUFF!!

Questions:
1. What lenses?
2. Who was the Art Director?
3. What did you use for wind machine?

EDIT:
What blower was it? Was it one of the Home Depot ones with the spinning barrel? Those are mighty powerful but quite concentrated so I would guess it was indeed one of those..? Was it only one? Perhaps two would help not blind the talent, but if he didn't mind having to close his eyes then it was perfect. I didn't have any problem with it at all. In fact it helped a ton to make the climax have even higher stakes. (we have a wind machine sequence coming up in my short)

Found the answer to Q #1, sorry, just read the whole thread. We will have the same identical set with one 180mm and the 600mm.
24mm f2, 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.4, 135mm f2

There is definitely some noise.
This is mostly due to it being a little underexposed.
That one is totally my fault.

This edit is already old. There is a much more refined cut. Still looking to get this one graded.

Art direction was done by Tim and myself. Ran around Riverside to thrift/antique stores picking up goodies, staining wallpaper, building the set(with the help of a few friends)

The wind machine was rented from a special effects house in l.a.
It was the most expensive thing in the budget. It went up to 45 mph.

If you post any screen grabs I can try my best to remember the lighting set ups.

I'll jump in too - That was such a cool vid. I feel like i might have seen a bit of it before - has it been posted elsewhere or am I just mad?

It looked fantastic - I wouldn't have guessed it was an HVX if I hadn't known.
Most importantly though, the piece kept me engaged all the way through - I didn't care fot the music, but i wanted to see what was going to happen in the visuals. And the most important thing - you remembered to give it a notch UP in the last 3rd. That makes so much difference - so many people forget that when making vids (me included).

Excellent stuff

also... you say you built the set... hows that? You built it from scratch - on a soundstage?? if so, would it be very cheeky to ask roughly how much a set like that might cost??

Hey dudes,
Thanks for the notes on the video. The fan was a Ritter fan.

The set was built with plywood panels. We then wall papered them and stained the wallpaper to give it the old aged, cigarette smoke look. It was built by a few of us on the production in my friend's garage.

there are some bts in the fat monster timefest thread... somewhere.
it was all house power except for the fan which was a NIGHTMARE because the rental place we got the genny from lied to us.
Good thing we had a kick ass electrician on set.
