A wedding I shot on my DVX100A

Looks pretty good. The beginning actually looked like a movie. I didn't have a chance to watch the whole thing - at work. But, looks pretty professional.

like the diff approach...but music seems a bit flat..no arc. i feel a wedding should have a somewhat lighter, uplifting tone.
although that might not go with your visually stylistic approach.
nevertheless, good job.

I agree with videoshark and that the music was all wrong and didnt feel like a wedding. Also the speed up ramps were distracting and didnt think they fit. I did like how you got some reaction shots though and the time lapse was nice.

I liked the video.

Are you looking to get into this fulltime? I have to tell you, I just recently tried it and it is such a pain. I mean, its like shooting a full length movie and all you get is one take. And it takes more than a week to do the editing process.

OH, yeah, I hear ya...I totally hated it. It was a whole day of shooting, at the end my back in pain, I was mentally exhausted...not to mention the editing afterwards. I do mainly video profiles for businesses, weddings only once in a greaaaaat while.
How do you like it?

I love doing wedding photography. One bag with a couple of lenses, but honestly i only use 2 or 3 for the most part. I love how i get to set up the shots and instruct everyone. I can catch a shot in a burst and only one needs to be good. I shoot around 800-1000 and only use about half for PS work later. Total time is one day shooting and 2 days in PS.

I hate doing wedding videography. Four bags of equipment, and honestly I need about 2 more bags of stuff and an extra person. I hate how the photographer calls pretty much all the shots(i guess that is why its called the photo session) and i have to tape whatever he does, he can get into my shot but i cant get into his. Everything needs to be good, because you never know if u might need that shot later. I get around 8hrs between both video cameras, so right there is a full day of capturing. Two days of editing, one for a highlights and one for a full length version. Two days making a 30sec intro in after effects. Why do i do it, because it is the first thing they see and really sets the mood, instead of going straight to a title menu. Then one to two days authoring the dvd, creating the inserts, dvd labels, and making/testing all the copies. So what is that, 7-8 days total. And i pretty much get paid the same for doing both. I would actually make way more doing 2 weddings on one weekend and spend less time on them then doing 1 video.

The worst part of it all is the end. I feel proud of my photos and can say that I did all that i could to make them the best.

I feel somewhere between terrible to ok with my wedding videos. I wish I could have edited them more, shot them with more cameras, had a second operator. But I cant because i would lose all my money in the process.

Another thing is video equipment cost so much more than photography equipment. The best nikon camera is the D3 at $5k. But if you want the best video, you need like a cinealta or maybe a HPX-500. Which the bodies alone range from $12-50K. The lenses are so much more. The max I paid for any of my photography lenes was $1300. The HPX-500 lenses start at like $7k or something. Also photography you dont need to worry about sound. From my experiences, lighting was a nightmare. Sometimes i was on full gain with a 1/24 shutter for my video camera. For photography you either use the ceiling as a bounce flash or a garyfong/pocket bounce. You can set up some lights for video, but it either blinds them or scatters the dance floor when you turn them on.

Another thing i really hate is the prep time. Photography none, video I need a minimum of 30 minutes to set up, then I have to tear the stuff down.

So ya, if you want to be a one man team, then stay away from wedding videography.
