Very happy for you man. Big congrats on the successful meeting. Keep it up!

Question for you - is there any effects work to be done? I know you were adamant about doing muzzle flashes practically....was there anything else you ended up leaving for post or is it literally just color and audio after the edit?

who is cutting your trailer? i can put you in touch with some of the top trailer editors in the business at The Ant Farm. PM me if interested.

Are they very good? Haven't had a chance to check out their site, but have you worked with them? I'd love to hook up with some trailer pros. Are they expensive?

Thanks!

Yes, Mark Johnson is helping me out with getting some smooth slomo and doing a couple muzzle flashes. Nothing I can't do myself given enough time, but he is a pro and has the tools to do it faster and better than I ever could.

they are expensive. their clients are all the major studios. typical trailer budget ranges from $50,000 to $100,000 over there. BUT! when i worked there, some "little" movies would come thru that were given special treatment. all you have to do is talk to them and see if they respond to the project.

Having frequently checking out this thread over the past weeks, I'm really glad to see it revived again! Good luck, Adam! Really looking forward to seeing the finished movie.

Excellent news, Adam. Congratulations. It's good to see this thread active again. There still so much for me to learn. :)

Rock solid man. That 'nuclear reactor' you've got going is a sight to behold (and by 'sight' I mean, reading your entries here!).
Congrats and all the best.
Sam.

congrats Adam! Glad to see your back.

I'm guessing it's going to be a lot nicer having someone else raise the money for you next time.

Hey Adam, working with the ant farm would be great, they are an amazing company! I was always under the impression that when it comes to getting the distribution deal, the film maker isnt required to produce a trailer? Does it not come under the marketing budget as no doubt they will want to change it to meet there needs etc. Anyway great to see you back!

David.

This thread's bad for me. I just started from the beginning and before I knew it, I'm on page 22 when I should've gone to bed quite a while ago.

Excellent writing and amazing experiences to learn from.

ya if i didn't monitor closed threads at all hours of the night i'd be more than 3 pages behind! Welcome back Adam and congrats! I'm looking forward to hearing more!

Just finished. 98 page thread... wow, just wow. Amazing story and details into the workings of Hollywood and all very interesting, definitely agree it's a modern day Rebel Without a Crew and I'm sure there's going to be a lot of links to this thread on other filmmaking websites.

Calling Tom's agent with no money in hand. I'm extremely impressed.

One quick request (possibly I just missed a post explaining) but you originally mentioned posting the script to the film? Not sure if the feedback on the raw footage deterred you from posting it, but I would very much like to read it for my own curiosity.

And something that's probably a foolish one, is how did you know that Tom's day rate was going to fit you? Or did you just assume because of the issues just prior to that. (Sorry if this is a dumb question, living in Indiana doesn't get me a lot of knowledge common to everyone in SoCal)

Not sure about posting the script mainly because I don't know how to disseminate it properly. Maybe someone could throw something out there as to how it could be done so the whole world couldn't get it. I suppose it's kind of moot now that the movie is shot.

No ideas what Sizemore's rate would have been when I called. And Tom's troubles wouldn't really have an enormous bearing on his rates - he was still a magnificent actor and was still...Sizemore. I knew he was going to be up there regardless but it didn't hurt to try.

You can password-protect a PDF pretty easily in Acrobat... that's probably the best way.
