connecting a monitor to the HVX

Hi

I've connected a 14" Sony Colour Calibration monitor to my HVX via the Component cable through to the RGB BNC connectors on the Sony PVM monitor, when I'm in shoot mode I can see what I'm recording on the monitor (set the AV IN/OUT to CMPNT OUT SEL -> 576i) However, if I want to playback a clip from the Firestore I see the clip on the LCD Flip-out but not on the monitor even though the CMPNT OUT SEL is 576i in the menu there also. Any suggestions?

I can connect via the standard yellow video-out cable and see it always. Would there be any loss of colour information if I just connected via the Video out? I don't really know and I'm just assuming that breaking it down to RGB will be better?

Cheers

Thanks...It is scary how different the colours are on my LCD monitor compared to the CRT monitor the CRT seems less contrasty also.

Curious to know if anyone else has issues with playback from P2/Firestore via Component?

I'm still rather lost with this. I've consulted Barry Green's HVX Book and it states that when in VCR mode: setting the CMPNT OUT SEL to 576i will output a downcoverted SD signal of my 1080p source which should display on my 14" monitor.

With the camera in "live" mode I can see what the camera is pointed at on the monitor fine, so everything is connected as it should be.

I have played a clip back from a DV tape and that plays fine over the CMPNT cable. This is leading me to believe that the CMPNT won't play a signal it receives via Firewire???

Cheers
