Whats going on with the G35?

It's been forever yet I still don't know how much they cost and they don't seem readily available on the site. Also it seems that nobody has them. What's going on?
Should i wait for one or go ahead and get a Letus35?

There is no such thing as a production G35, there were beta versions, but thats about it. If you are still waiting for it, then you are missing out on everything else that is out there. I use the Letus and find it very adequate for what I am doing now. There are also many other options out there, don't waste your time on vaporware.

Seems like they missed a trick if it seriously isn't coming out. They seemed to have a tonne of interested people and the beta versions seemed pretty good too.

I didn't even bother renewing my reservation after their server crashed. I completely lost interest. The only thing that could redeem this product is if they came out with a cheaper alternative to the uber-over-priced Movietube. Now that every tom, dick, and harry is making these gadgets in their garages, cinemek would have to play for keeps.

yeah, that s weird. a lot of people were ready to buy even the static beta version....

The M2 really has taken over the 35mm adapter market, unfortunately you don't hear much about the Movietube which looked like a really cool product when it was being shown at the DVXUser party at NAB '06. Other than that, P+S Technik still rules the roost in high-end applications as far as I can tell.

I was never really interested in the G35, I missed out on the hype. But I did look at it and man were there just hordes of people clamoring for it, too bad it ran into problems. The dream was there, but it just didn't manifest.

probably but your footages were fantastic with it

Thanks! While there are problems with it, it is pretty awesome, by the way. I'm not saying it's a bad product, I'm just saying it should be worth the wait if it ever comes out.

who gives a phuck!

You all should worry about writting a script or being productive with your lives. Having a G35 anit going to get you the ladies.. :)

If you want a 35mm adapter, get the M2. They got their **** together. :)

Harsh but true.

Why anybody who is in the market for a 35mm adapter would wait for this is beyond me.

There are so many other options out there right now, affordable options, it just seems foolish to wait around for this thing.

I was waiting for the G35, then bought the M2. The Brevis adapter seems very close to what the production version of the G35 was going to be.

The M2, Brevis and Letus are all producing good images.

The cinemek product is very similar to the letus in design, so if you are looking for a "quick" adapter the letus is key.

The M2 is probably has the highest cost/benifit ratio. Its very solid considering the price.

From experience and reports from other DP/AC's the PS-teknic is a flawed design. The ground glass can be seen at certain shutter angles and the amount of light loss is horrible. Think ISO 100 for interiors. :Drogar-Mark-10(DBG)

If you want a high end adapter with a PL mount go for the new Movie Tube. Abel Cine Tech carries them in NYC/LA. There is no moving parts, the ground glass is great, and its sharper than any adapter out there.

Cinemek missed their time in my opinion. At one point I thought about pre-ordering but I never really liked the "soda can" design. Would you seriously bring that on set with a paying client?

2cents.

Matt

Yeah I have a letus35A. One of the older ones, but it makes a great image. I'm going to rent a Movietube for my upcoming feature. One of the things I like about it is it adds some meat to your camera. So you get a great image, plus you get the "Kiefer effect" for a little more credibility on set. It's a pretty sexy gadget.
