Hey all,

Just wanted to help spread some buzz about a feature length '24' spoof I directed.

The movie is starting to get noticed by the '24' fan community, and I thought I'd get the digi/indie filmmaker community in on the action.

From www.24fans.com
“CTU: Provo” is a fanmade ‘parody-homage’ which runs to a full 90 minutes. Don’t be mislead by the word fanmade, the film has very impressive production qualities, enjoys an excellent cast, a solid script and direction which at times is more inventive than that shown on the show itself in recent times.

Check the film out at www.ctuprovo.com and please, please, please leave us feedback, both here and on our forums...

My best to all you DVXUsers...

Do I need to? I've seen more than enough already to form an opinion, thanks. I couldn't possibly muster the energy it'd take to watch 90 minutes of that. It's just horrible.

Sorry, I don't mean to be a dick, but this is the typical Happy Valley crap that makes my stomach hurt, and pisses me right the heck off.

This time it's worse than usual though, this time it looks like some room-mates grabbed some local celeb's and goofed around with a camera and an idea for far too long.

I'm sure you put a lot of time and effort into this, and I'm also sure your family & friends all think it's funny, but if you want to earn the respect of your indie filmmaking peers than you need to do much more. Especially for a feature.

I only watched the trailer because my internet is way to slow to download a gig, but I thought it looked cool. The second have of the trailer was better though. Especially the "stunts".

I don't mind the subtle humor.

lol, pwned

Hey guys don't be so hard! He made a 90 min feature film, respect! How many on these boards here make any films at all? Sure it's not going to be the next big thing but it's a good start... learning by doing...

Nice use of the 25 cent word "Myopic". I had to look that one up. Kudos if that's really in your vocabulary, shame on you if you used a thesaurus.

Look, my whole beef is that you took an idea that was suitable for a short, and made a feature. Short films afford you the opportunity to experiment, goof off, and make mistakes because the audience knows what they're getting into. Had you made a short, I would have left you alone.

To make a feature you REALLY have to get your stuff together. The very idea of a feature is to pack a theater and keep the audience entertained for 90 minutes while you work out a distribution deal to make your money back and hopefully go into the black.

A feature is not meant for a group of his friends to be silly on video and share it online with other TV show geeks.

Furthermore, everything from Happy Valley makes me sick. It's the sexually frustrated awkward geekyness from when you were a pimply teen still manifesting it self in grown adults but this time with video cameras. Jared Hess is the only one who could spin it to his advantage. And he did it VERY well. Everyone else is still in mor-Osmond land, a.k.a "Mollywood" singing and dancing like it's Saturday's Night Warrior.
(If you live outside Utah you probably won't get that paragraph, hell I don't even get it sometimes.)

So here I am on my apparent high horse. I have yet to make my own feature, because I want my first to be rock solid. I hold a high respect for features. When someone does a slopped together mockery of cinema, then looks for accolades, I will not give them.

I know "earning" respect isn't on your agenda, you've made that blatantly clear.

If you want to look my up in 10 years go for it. Do it now if you like.

I guess jealousy eats people alive. Dyslexicon you went out and did it man, and that’s good enough by itself to congratulate you. A lot of people talk the crap but you don’t see the results. I don’t like to be a critic to any film posted in this forum because that is not my job. I like to support any effort that is done. The ultimate critic is the public that either buys or pans your stuff.
I would like to see any work from those criticizing you so harshly. Are they any good themselves? Must likely not. Let them prove it with their work not their mouth.
You do what you have and want to do and don’t worry about any jealousy crazed wannabes. Good luck to you.

You know what. Alan asked for feedback and he got it. You cant really complain about that. Greg gave him what he asked for. Perhaps a tad rantish in his delivery (my opinion only) but he has some solid points in what he says. I watched the trailer. I'd give my opinion but on second thought I'm just going to keep it to myself.
