Hi people!

I've posted grabs from it before and now it's time to show you the final product.

This is a film about everyday choices that can affect you more than you realize.
You can find yourself to be in the wrong place in life just because of those small choices...

It's a .rar file so you'll need to use winRAR to unzip it. And after that I would suggest that you watch it with VLC player... quicktime makes the colors faded and the sound out of sync..

It was made for (and by) a youth community in the city where I live so the actor(s) are not professional, but I think the main actor did a very nice job.

I know that it lacks some depth.. The characters etc.. And all I can say is, we had such a limited amount of time to work on it.. so yeah.. but I've learned a lot:)

I really hope you like it!

ENJOY!

first off it looked amazing. a couple of the shots in there where really good and cut together well. the editing was good. the lighting looked natural and therefor good.

now for my criticisms :D

at the start some of the wording in the text is a bit off..

it should be something like;

"we've been taught it's the big choices in life that tell us who we are.." and "paint the big picture"

there is also a lot of text.. i missed out on all the opening footage because i was trying to read :) i only got to see it the second time around when i ignored all the text. maybe just one or two bit's at the start would be more effective?

sigur ros is becoming a bit of a theme for your work :) i'm a big fan of them. the only problem i have with them is that half the stuff from this site (peoples reels, shorts, test footage, other crap) uses them. they're just over used and it's instantly recognizable.. but that's just personal opinion. not everyone has heard as much sigur ros as i have :)

the kids acting was good. the dad? at the start with his arm crossing was a bit funny for me.

yes the story lacks depth but you already know that.

i enjoyed it! looking forward to more!

Thank you very much for the contructive criticism:)
I really appreciate it!

And I'm glad you liked it:)

I also felt that there was too much text in the beginning, but I think I had to have it there for people to understand the movie..

About the song..

When I came about this song I felt that it was exactly the one I wanted (and needed)..

And I chose it a long time ago when Sigur Rós wasn't THAT big of a trend here.. And of course I stayed with it:P

And because Sigur Rós allows it, I can use it almost everywhere and I don't have to worry about any "legal issues".. (though I did use some john williams music at the end.. but that's not central to the film:P)

And yeah, the dad is actually the janitor of the building in which our youth community is.. we had trouble finding a dad and we were running short on time so we asked the first person that came to our head:P

but he did an ok job I think.. or.. an acceptable job.. :D

thanks again!

that was very good.
i am assuming you shot the running sequences out of a car right?
how hard was that? was it hard to keep him in focus?
i am putting together a story that would have similar shots but my subject is supposed to be on a bike and i want to be in front of him shooting out the back of a van at him.

Thank you:)

No the running sequence was shot with me running beside him....

:D maybe not :D

No actually we had an ATV.. umm.. we call it a "four-wheeler"... (you can see it in the opening shot of this movie: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uoQdXdZgWWw )

It's a lot easier to do it with an ATV rather than from a car.. at least that's what I've experienced.
But the focusing wasn't that easy.. I mean I had a lot of running footage that was blurry, but after a few tries I got the hang of it:)

And with an ATV, shooting in front of the subject is pretty easy (if the road is level of course)

Good luck with your project!

Okay, that dolly shot where he was standing in the middle of the room and the people were partying around him in slow motion was awesome!!! That was so cool, and it's the exact look I want to get for films I make in the future some time. Haha, nice work!
