Me again,

Well i finally put together some clips from walking with my misses & dogs over the winter just gone. I'm pretty pleased with some of the shots. It's a little mish-mash i'm afraid because there's a few different daylights, & CC experimentations.

PAL 25P, squeeze, no adapter, magic bullet

There's a few action shots done at 50i slowed down to 50% in AE.

---LARGE---

---SMALL---
walks_small.mov (54mb, 6 mins)

Tell me what you think.

(p.s, see if you spot the shot where i used twixtor)

Here's some teaser grabs...

Man, no way this is DVX. Too clean. This blows my mind. Makes me think I got a broken DVX. Wow.

How do you people get these AMAZING-quality finished products? It drives me insane. What are your export settings?

Very nice footage.

Were you using a wide angle lens on the lady's face?

Beautiful dogs by the way, animals always make a movie look "kewler".

WTF...I was also telling myself THIS CAN NOT BE FROM A DVX....looks amazing. The image is so clean, strong, beautiful place. I wanted to be one of those dogs for a moment. Was that all handheld? great control man. 25p, how come I don't see any strobing? do you have 25i or did you mean 50i? I got to get twixtor man...$500 working on it..I like to shoot 24PA...and it'll help with slow motions. Also the exposure seems to good. I guess your really good at it. I hope to make some shots like that one day.

Thanks for sharing.
Great work

No, it was the stock lens, i don't own an adapter yet.

Yeah it was pretty much all handheld, apart from the stuff on the stone bridge. I meant 50i, not 25i like you said. You don't really need twixtor to be honest because AE does a pretty good job at smoothing out the frames. You just shoot at 50i mode (PAL) or 60i (NTSC) and import into AE and use timestretch. I only used twixtor on one shot that was shot at 25P, it's ok but you can start to see weird glitches if you slow it down by too much.

I'm glad you guys liked the video. I do live in a beautiful part of the world down here, which helps.

Hey Jamesh,

Footage looked gorgeous. The colors where rich and the editing and camera work was smooth.

On a side note, I've always noticed that the PAL version of the DVX always looked much more clean and crisp, never could figure out why?

Keep up the good work,

But obviously you wouldn't use this method for putting the video on a DVD, would you? Cause if you think that would help for DVD I might just try this method.

That's right, you would still use mpeg2 for DVD. Just remember a dvd is never gonna look as crisp as an .mp4 file. I understand a tv screen will soften the image even more too.

hey...that tutorial is for windows...how can I do that on Mac?

I don't know mate. Your best bet is to ask the guy who came up with this method directly. His screen name is Demistate.

I don't think there's any difference between them to be honest. I've seen crappy looking footage from PAL & NTSC cameras, and amazing looking footage from both too. I think it has more to do with how well you maintain your image quality from shoot to export.

Great looking video! Who does that song?

It's by Sigur Ros the song is Glossilli. Not very original i know because it seems everyman and his dog have used this track in a project somewhere at some point, but it just seemed to fit the mood so well.

Cheers for your comments guys.
