using P2 media in FCP 6

In Final Cut, go to File>Log and Transfer. Once the window pops up, try dragging your CONTENTS folders there. The clips should pop up, and you can choose which to import.

thank you.
i did that and in FCP, the collum Vid Rate is set to 23.98 fps but we shoot in 720p60p

I don't know what to do, it seem that FCP can't import the 60p from the P2 card or maybe we did'nt shoot in 60p !

what is the trick to verify the format of what's in a P2 card because when i used the P2CM software ? what collum says that,

merci !

I was asking if you had it set to 720p/60p in the Recording Setup menu, but 24FRAME in the scene file menu. My first guess was that was your problem, because Final Cut strips out the duplicate frames.

yes the recording setup was at 720p/60p
Is the scene file menu on the cam menu ? (i don't have the cam with me, we rented only for half a day) and is this option influence the signal format i set (720p/60p).
the part wits the «striped out the duplicate frames» is a concept i'm not familiar with.
How does FCP take 720p/60p to.... 24p ! I will make ressearch about it.

thank you for this information

Yes, the scene file menu is the first option when you hit the menu button. In there, there is an option for Frame Rate. If you recorded at 60p with a 24 frame rate, then that means the camera will duplicate the same frame for 2 1/2 times in the stream. Final Cut Pro senses this, and automatically strips out the duplicate frames.
That way, you are left with only 24 frames, instead of 60 frames with duplicates in the stream (that is my understanding at least).

Did that make any sense? It seemed very repetitive.

No, not repetitive... very right ! Earlier today, your other post sait it right and we figured that there are still frame in FCP or QuickTime in this pattern:
100101010010101001010, etc... and the scene file menu on the cam was probably at 24frames/sec.

. Thank You for the help, we are now set for the «tournage»

:)

ok now that this problem is no more a problem, there is another one:
When i imported the medias i used the MacPro but with the laptop, it's impossible to download on a external drive FW 800. Because we don't have time (tomorrow is the shoot) we will bring the MacPro to the studio but i was wondering if this problem is normal. I know this kind of situation when i digitize with a DV camera, i have to capture on the internal HD, then transfert to the external HD after i unplugged the DV cam !

make sense ?
