Final Fantasy Game Series

Hey there! I am a camera geek, film maker, / part time video gamer and I LOVE the FInal Fantasy series. I have been hooked since FF7. I started playing the previous titles after FF7 and have most recently played all of the series I could get my hands on save 11 due to it being MMORPG. I miss the turn based fighting system and hate the one in 12 so I stopped playing it. I am excited about FF XIII and actually just put a pre-order in for FFXIII Versus at Gamestop. I reordered FF7 to play on my PS3 and to introduce my wife to the series. I think it is the best of them all and hope they make a PS3 remake of it. Any toher FF lovers out there?

4 Just got re-released. Can't wait to play on DS.

You should go back in time to play earlier SquareSoft games, before Square-Enix came about. The purity of the series before Nomura (Director of the FF series beginning at 8 or so) arrived is pretty fantastic. Although, I have nothing against Tetsuya, in fact I've been influenced by the changing faces of SquareSoft since the hay days of FF2.

He's also responsible for one of my fanboy obsessions Kingdom Hearts. Seriously CAN'T get enough Kingdom Hearts and I think I wear the shirt a little too much. I've got it and the B.Press Krew hat on in the Zelda Trailer BTS. :B

You should also try Chrono Trigger. If Curugon is on he's gonna battle me to the death on which one is the better SquareSoft title, Final Fantasy 3/6 or Chrono Trigger... I say Chrono Trigger all the way.

I really love 3/6 but I do have to say Chrono Trigger kicked butt as well. I played 3/6 and watched my sister play Chrono trigger, so I am a bit biased, but both are excellent games.

I also love Kingdom Hearts. I think it is one of the better games out there. My favorite of All time is FF7 and then FF8 due to its well executed Love theme and beautiful cut scenes. I always feel like Final Fantasy keeps hinting at a love story and then does not deliver but FF8 did in my opinion. FF9 was too throw back for me as I was used to realistic looking characters by then and FF10 was pretty good. FF11 killed me because of the lame Multiplayer online only twist and FF12's battle system is lame for my tastes. Much less strategy involved. I really liked FF5 as well (The one with the Crystals right?) I get that confused with FF2.

weird, what version of FFVI was that? I love FFVI and that does not look like any version i've played. Known as FFIII in America i can't wait for them to remake that one on the DS :) I've played it so many times :D

You are right! Here is the fixed grab!:cheesy:

HA! That is too cool Hans. I'm a huge fan of the FF series - bought DS to play it re-released. I can't wait until...what are we going to be at now? 13 - when it comes out for PS3.

I saw a Cloudbuster replica the other day and was very tempted to buy it haha.

Haha! So...Which FF is everyones favorite and why? Anyone else miss the turnbased action or are you a fan of 12's battle system?

My favorite FF is 6 and 7. I stopped playing after 7...wasted waaaaay too much of my life on that game..haha.

6 had the most involving story line, that locke and celeste story was amazing.

7 was just nuts also! BUT, I didnt' feel as connected to Cloud as I did to Terra.

Damn....I am still a geek. :S

Twelve didn't start that stuff. It's derivative of other Square Titles. I think it's okay because it requires more interaction and less of a formulaic approach to battles. It also increases the replay value of the game itself.

Final Fantasy 3/6 then 7. Although they can't come close to touching Chrono Trigger. :B

I hope Square never makes another movie, as well. Advent Children was a disaster, although the Fanboy in me enjoyed it.

I liked FF AC alot. It was some of the most beautiful 3D work I have seen yet in a movie. I also loved seeing the characters some to life on screen. The story was a bit confusing, but I guess 7's was too so it makes sense. haha

I miss the chess like strategy of the battles in the other FF titles. I really liked the Turn based approach because you could think many moves ahaead and watch your strategy play out. It is definitely one of the things I am dissapointed about the new series. I still like them though.

FF7 is my favorite. 3/6 was pretty good, but I guess I am spoiled because the lack of graphic quality pulls a little bit away from that title. My goodness, where did my imagination go!? Oh well.

i loved 7. it was my introduction to the series. gosh...i remember how blown away i was during the cg sequence...i think it was in the power plant at the beginning. i wish i could play this game for the first time again. at the end of the first*? disc when cloud lays "buries" Aeris in the lake...oh my. this really needs to be re-released on ps3

i loved 8. it wasn't as good as seven but...eight was pretty flawless itself.

didn't like 9.

final fantasy 10...the first for ps2 if i remember right was pretty good. still didn't compare to 7 or 8.

i bought the freaking PS2 modem just to play 11 online...played for two months and hated it.

final fantasy 12 was fun for a while but was missing something...maybe it was the new fighting system...i'm not sure but i never got through that one.

anyways, i hope xiii reverts back to the old turn-based fighting system as opposed to the quasi-annoying live action one.

ps. noone else mentioned final fantasy tactics...i LOVED that game!

13's the Original FF team. Versus 13's helmed by Nomura's Kingdom Hearts team.

I think 13's actually going for the advanced gameplay system and Nomura's team's innovating a new battle system.

I think all will be well no matter which, as the storylines always keep me glued and playing without sleep.

i would definitely be interested in a new battle system.

i just was not a big fan of 12's.

maybe i am getting older or something but it just did not hvae the "mystique" that 7,8, and 10 had.

LoL. IT's funny because I say that about 8, 9, and 10. The last good FF game was 7 to me. The rest have been carbon. I think Versus and 13 are going to see some changes to the series that're much needed for its survival.

I for one am excited that they gave Nomura an FF title, and I'm lookin' forward to some Kingdom Hearts 3 (title pending).

i never played any of the kingdom hearts but based on these rave reviews i may be stopping by gamestop after work...

this is exactly what i need another 80 hours of my life chewed up...
