Fuji P2 available and price?

Did Fuji ever get off the pot and announce the availability and price of their cards? Possibly now after NAB atleast.

No specific announcements. They just said "a couple of months" and "priced comparable to Panasonic." (or was it "competitive" to panasonic? Don't remember, but it pretty much means the same thing.)

Query:

If the prices offered by Fuji are just "about the same" as Panasonic's, why would anyone purchase Fuji's?

Let's go through another mass shortage like last fall, and I think a whole lotta people would swarm to Fuji cards. ;)

Fuji manufacturing cards does three things, as far as I can tell:
1) it prevents shortages (hopefully) from ever occurring again.
2) it provides the potential for price competition
3) it "legitimizes" the format, in the eyes of those who haven't yet bought in. Of course, I think the even better "legitimization" is that Hitachi announced they're building P2 recording decks for their camcorder heads.

Fuji's business plan is their own decision, and we'll have to see how they fare in the market. If they're exactly the same price, then yes, I also wonder who will flock to them. I think we all kind of hope that there'll be some price competition going on now that there's another major player in the game.

Thanks Barry. How was your NAB experience this year? You did help me decide on my cam and I bought the SD9 and LOVE it. It's small enough to actually keep in your pockets or what I like is a little fanny pack. Man it's a cool cam. I just have to figure out the workflow for FCP. Got any help in this area?

cheers and looking forward to another great panny product!

Justyn:

On that SD9, we returned ours because of the heavy saturation and poor color reproduction.

Greens looked blue and yellow even with WB.
