The first point under the "details" section says this:

The following Avid editing systems support Panasonic P2 workflows: Avid Media Composer family, Avid NewsCutter family and Avid Xpress Pro software. Selected P2 workflows are supported by Avid DS Nitris and Avid Symphony Nitris systems.

I hope that helps.

this what i get most of the time when i trie to open a p2 file

this is how it should be done with the firestore, (and how i do did it and it works fine)

so after a shoot and you are done with the firestore, make sure that you go under the firestore menu and select "organize P2" make sure you do this before you connect it to your computer, its essential

then connect it to your computer and in the firestore select the HDD mode so that your computer recognizes it as a external hard drive.

now this is how i do it personally. for each project and offload I build a folder structure on my computer to initially copy the contents to so for example i have a project called shortfilm and i just did a shoot for scene01

so on the root of one of my media drives i create a folder structure as follows:

root of media drive->
shortfilm->
scene01
scene02
scene03
etc.

i create a new folder for each offload from the firestore just to keep it all organized by shoot and project.

once i have my folder set up to offload from the firestore, say im offloading scene01, i go to the firestore drive thats mounted like an external drive and copy 2 things: CONTENTS and lastclip.txt to the scene01 folder

i open have, make a new bin for scene01 in in project, select the bin and then go file -> import P2 -> clips to bin. this opens a dialog box where i navigate to my file structure that I offloaded from the firestore. i navigate to my media drive it is on->shortfilm->scene01 and just select the folder scene01, not the CONTENTS folder or lastclip.txt but the folder that is holding them.

avid then with reference that folder and you will have access to the clips that you offloaded to scene01. you can edit straight from here, but if you close avid and reopen, the clips will be offline, you just need to go through the import P2 clips to bin process and they will be online(and it will not make duplicates of the same clips in scene01 when you reimport clips to bin, it will just re-reference them.

now to get these into your Avid Mediafiles folder, in the bin, select the ones you want to work with if you will not be needing to use all the clips or just select them all and go file->import P2->media. this will take the clips in the bin that are referenced from the scene01 folder and copy them into the Avid Mediafiles so they will always be online to access when you reopen avid and your project.

now i dont think this is how everyone does, but this is how i do it and heres why: when im doing a project with lots of offloads from the firestore, i build the folder structure on large 1TB drives for backup of all clips shot for the project in an organized manner thats easy for me. then i import clips to bin from these folders and pick out which clips i want to work in case not all are useable, then i select the clips import P2->media and have these clips copied to a different drive which is a RAID setup for faster performance which I edit from. this way i have all the clips im editing on my RAID as well as a backup on large drives just to be cautious so i have the original offloads untouched and archived.

people will probably do things their own way and im guessing there are plenty of different workflows to go through but this just works well for me

also i have always had problems to to go file->import P2->clips to bin and then select the firestore external drive as the source. for some reason that has always been buggy for me, maybe it works for some but it just doesnt work right for me. thats why i copy everything from the firestore to my computer hard drive first.

sorry for long post but i hope at least one thing in here helped
