hv20 dropping frames during capture

Anyone experience this? I shot some stuff on my XH A1 and then used hte hv20 to capture and it dropped frames twice... I then brought it back on the XH A1 and captured it and no frames were dropped.

The camera is new, HOWEVER, it was on display at best buy for a good couple of months, being turned on and what not, but no tape inside.... Could this mean a simple cleaning or is something else at work here?

It can be a computer related problem. I had the same problem a couple of times and restarting the computer then trying again solved the problem.

Not sure how it is a computer related problem. I switched the tape directly back to the XH A1, rewound it a bit, and then re captured the same stuff, and no problems there.

I guess my curiosity is if dirty heads can have an impact on capturing information as much as they can on capturing to tape?

If the computer was compiling something in the background while you were using the HV20, and finished during you were using A1 you may get this error. Just an idea. Or it may be a software related problem.

There are many possible causes. If the hard drive is not defragged, there might be occasional (seemingly random) dropped frames while capturing.

I've had this problem as well, though not with those same two cameras. As best I can figure, it is more related to whether the computer is being interrupted (for example, when I first started capturing I would foolishly use that computer to check my email) and not to the camera. But hey, a good head cleaning can't hurt.
