Kinda off topic, but MBP or MP

Here is my dilemma, I finally decided to make the switch over to Mac and FCP. I can no longer stand windows and their crappy everything. So now I am torn between getting the new macbook pro for 2899 or the Mac Pro for 2899. Regardless of what I get I am also buying monitor keyboard etc.

So its either the best macbook pro or the least expensive mac pro.
I would really like the portability of the macbook and as of right now, im still shooting with the DVX so I really have no need for octo core processing. I am thinking I should go macbook and when I finally set up office somewhere upgrade to the mac pro.

So I guess I just want some reassurance that the MBP is gonna be able to handle my editing needs. I plan on getting FCS 2 and mostly editing dv footage, however if I decide to rock some dvcpro hd the MBP can hand it right?

im looking at the 2.5g processor, 4 gig of ram, 250 gig 5600 ideally I would like the 200 7200 but I can upgrade that later on, 8600 512mb video card.

Let me know what you think.

thanks

The Macbook Pro can handle DVCPRO HD just fine. I just finished a documentary on the 2.16 Core 2 DUO with 2 gigs of ram, and it was able to handle 4 simultaneous streams of 1280X720 24fps in a multiclip over firewire 800 without a hiccup. You can also get an esata card for more than double the bandwidth of FW 800.
