Black White with color extract

Ok so I have a Canon XHA1 and I'm going for the Norman Miller Sin City look with the black and white color extract. You know where only one color like red or blue is visible amongst the black and white. So whats the best way to achieve this effect??? editing or a in camera trick ?

This is called color pass, and is best done in post. Vegas has a preset in the Secondary Color Corrector that does this very easily. Edius can do it using the Chrominance filter.

you can also try making whatever is you want to show up as a color by making it green, and changing the hue in post.

Yes it's easy to do in FCP. Do the "Color" tutorial from the kenstone site

Or if you want' more than one colour do what nantnee suggest's and key out colors.

Newtek's SpeedEdit also has that capability in the Secondary Color correction.
