Shooting on the HVX200 with P2 work flow at 720p/24p the .mxf media when converted through final cut into quicktimes is now displaying at 29.97 and the speed and audio sync are off. What can we do to fix this?

No, how do you do that? We are ingesting with FCP 6. Usually by importing a P2 volume (P2 media copied to a local directory) it just seems to automatically detect the original recording settings. Right now it loses sync after like 4 seconds.

The P2 mounts via firewire to macpro 10.4.11.
The P2 volume is dragged and dropped to a local drive. (I just read your post not to do that and instead to use the app. Just downloaded 1.1.9 haven't tried yet)
FCP log and transfer points to the directory and ingests.
Quicktimes (qt wrapped .mxf's) created in capture directory, lose sync.

What kind of drive are you playing back from? Sync can often mean a too slow drive. Hopefully you'll say- it's a USB drive in which case I'll say get a FW800 or an ESATA and your sync problems will disappear.

Did updates but don't think that was the issue. Just tried a new import and unchecked remove advanced pull down and duplicate frames under import prefs tab (in the log and transfer window)

This fixed the problem. The frame rate now appears to be 59.94 and is now in sync.

But why did it happen? What could have caused this? Did we have our recording settings wrong and not remember? Or is this a post ingest issue? How do we prevent from happening again?

We discovered what happened. The camera recording setup was set to 720p/24p but the scene file was in Operation type Film Camera mode at 30 fps. This caused it to lose sync. It was recording at 24 fps rate but the camera shutter was set to 30 fps.

Anyone experienced this?
