FEATURE: NO GREATER LOVE - Official Thread - Feature Film

Well, it's IN THE CAN!

Post-production is in full thrust... I have edited through about 19 pages of script so far, in two days, and have about 15-16 min. It's looking great so far!

Congrats! Can't wait to watch this.

You gotta spill the beans on your color grading process. Looks really great.

Actually, from what I've read/been told, most of what you see already is straightup HVX...without much changes at all if any (yet :P)

Brandon?

Kyle is right. The grabs I have posted are straight from camera. This is a testament to Marcelo's incredible lighting skill! I will be putting in some tweaks, no doubt, and it makes it pop even more :) But the lighting team we had on this was awesome!

I'm sure you have your own CC/CG in might, but you provided such lovely images I couldn't help playing around with them :)

Yea, I like it too ... I did it in After Effects with a preset I have installed. I could give you the effects/settings and you could probably simulate them in AVID (or whatever you do your final color in).

Since you liked it, I applied the same settings to the other grabs ... just out of curiosity. Here's how they turned out:

Hiya Brandon. I was wondering if you recorded sound straight to camera or if you used a separate recorder. I ask because I noticed a digital slate in the BTS.

Cool... not sure it works for all of them though ;)

I agree , but then I also didn't do anything to the image before applying the "look". Anyway, as I said before, I was just playing around.

That particular look did work well for the footage of TJ in the office, I think it was the warm coloring it had to begin with that make it work.

Anyway, looking forward to the finished film

Since I know he's busy editing like a madman... They were running dual system, so there was a separate recorder at all times (so they can always go back to the isolated tracks if needed) but the sound team sent us a mixed 'line' feed to the cameras.

Ah. Makes sense. How many channels had to be mixed down to send to the cam? (I find well done production sound fascinating since I haven't gotten a chance to go all in yet)

Usually each character in the scene would be wirelessly mic'd and there'd be a boom op as well. They'd also sometimes plant some wireless mics around the set as well. Not sure what the average would be but I figure it's at least two or three channels for even the simple scenes.

Will any ADR be necessary or did you guys have really quiet locations? Thanks for indulging all the questions guys.

From what I've heard, the production sound is quite good. I was surprised at how well it turned out considering some exterior locations were quite noisy. It seems that ADR isn't necessary and if used, it'd be for small bits and pieces. I'm sure Brandon has a better perspective on it.

Hey, I've got a break here... the sound we got was great throughout! Obviously some "sweetening" in post will make it that much better, but the sound team did a great job! It isn't cheap, but well worth it!

Yes sir, been busy :) it's coming along! Got lots to show ya! I've finished 20 scenes today... started on scene 40, and just finished 61.. Getting close to my goal of hitting scene 100 by Thursday! (That's about half the film)

Editing update....

On scene 87.. one of the toughest scenes of the film... so much coverage and so many variables... plowing ahead...
