HVX200 Cases and bags

Porta-Brace PB2550 hard case... Carry on size with wheels - I travel a lot with the camera.
A little tight on the interior when you pack in batteries, a couple of Lav mikes, and a shotgun; but I can have it with me in the overhead bin.

MB, We get more stuff in our 1510 than you got in that big honkin 1610.
I'd pack more stuff in there or get the 1510 for normal use. :happy:
I did notice that you got Barry's book in there as we do also. :)
 
Ted, I am a broadcast student and it took me two years to save for the camera so needless to say right off the bat I couldn't afford anything else. I got the bigger case for growing room. I have been looking at getting a smaller pelican to put just the camera in for everyday use and then keeping the 1610 for equipment when I can get it.
 
mb, Planning ahead was a wise choice. Once you make a ton of money you can buy all the toys. :)
Maybe throw a handful of Mini-DV tapes in there for show even if you don't use them. :)
 
Where can you buy the Ty Video bag? Can't find where it's in stock. I'm in Australia too so hopefully somewhere ships OS.
 
I have a Lowepro DZ100 and it works great for the HVX. In fact, I've ragdolled down an entire mountain face with my HVX in it and it came out just fine on the other end :)

I used to have the Burton Zoom pack,l but it sucks for the HVX, would be great for an SLR though....
 
I have the porta brace hardshell and it's great. I like it because it uses a better system than the foam inserts of the pelicans.

I also use a Lowe Pro Vertex 200 AW and its a fantastic backpack that I've walked around with all day, has a tripod holder, rain guard, laptop pocket and plenty of room for camera, batteries, hard drives, etc.

i just picked up a 1550 with the 1550 soft case. It's great for when you don't want to carry the hard shell.
 
I have a Pelican 1600 with custom cut foam for maximum protection and a KATA 193 soft bag when I'm on the run. If you are going to get a Pelican case I'd strongly suggest custom cut over pick and pluck, it will stand up to the rigours of use much better. KATA soft bags are the best I've found. Very well made and flexible divider system plus nice extras such as a rain cover and movable internal pouches.

I agree. I own both custom cut foam and pick and pluck cases. Even though the custom cut foam case costs $60 to $100 more, it is very durable and well thought out for fitting equipment. I would purchase another one without hesitation. For run and gun this is not a good case. For storage and long rough transportation it is one of the best in its class.
