1080pa in FCP

Hi

if we shoot in P2 format, the compressor info in FCP turns into 1080p30 after removing the reduntant frames. however if we stream the video out of firewire and record on the disk as QT, the compresser info doesnt change and stays in 108060i after removing the redundant frames.

is this something we have to worry or just a bug?

That's how it works. In the second scenario you would use CinemaTools to remove the pulldown.

Thanks for the reply, Noah

when we did the removing the pull-down in the tools menu for both scenario, it looked like it worked except the compressor info. QT file's frame rate changes to 23.98fps, the data rate goes down to 11.3mb/sec...etc

so u'are saying that for QT files we'll have to use Cinema tools to remove it..
weird
i didn't see this on the manual

also realized that the duration of the files whose pull-down removed are 3-4 frames shorter than the files with no pull-down.

In P2 format, the duration of the clips is same...
weird
anyonebody has experienced that???

PS: intel Mac Pro
FCP 6.02
