P2 not showing up in log and transfer

hello all
i got my hvx today!
i shot some footage
and when i turn it to the 1394 device connect thing
and went into log and transfer in fcp
and nothing shows up!
i downloaded a driver from the panasonic web site
i thought that would help
but the camera shows up in finder so, is it fcp's fault?

If you connect the firewire (camera off), power up the camera, push the mcr button and, after the camera switches modes hold the button for 2 seconds (as described on pages 77 and 84 of your manual) until the camera switches again into 1394 mode, you will see the little hard drive icons appear (one for each card) on your desktop.

Open the icon(s) and copy both P2 folders (must include the text folder) to your a new folder on your desktop. Once copying is completed you can open fcp, select log and transfer and drag and drop both P2 folders into the log and transfer window. Apple A and hit the add selected items button. At this point your footage should be loading into a new project folder in fcp.

I had this same problem and it had something to do with some aftermarket plug ins I installed in FCP. I can't remember what plug ins they were, but the company had a update that once installed fixed the problem. I'll look it up and edit this post once I find it.

It was the FX-Factory plug ins. Here is the link to the discution

can you view the footage in p2cms? if so then those fxfactory plugz are probably the culprit.

CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW HVX!!!

Dylan: details are important. All we know is that you FCP.

What machine with what RAM are you running?

What version of OS and what version of FCP and of QuickTime.

And did the NO NAME volume actually appear on the desktop.

You do need to detail everything. And if you have FX Factory installed, that certainly is another issue.

Dylan.

It would be helpful of you answered the questions that I asked.

Otherwise, every body is just guessing.

1. What machine with what RAM are you running?

2. What version of OS and what version of FCP and of QuickTime.

3. Did the NO NAME volume actually appear on the desktop.

and are you write protecting the p2 cards before mounting them on the desktop?

Since I'm setting my system up, here is what I have to work with and if it isn't enough what upgrade should I go after?

Powerbook G4 - OS X - 10.3.9 - 1 GB DDR SDRAM
Quick Time 7.1.3
I will be setting up Final Cut Studio II.

Sorry if I'm missing something here...
Why are you importing them under log and transfer? What about importing through File>Import>Panasonic P2? I've never done it any other way...should I? I wasn't aware that you could import P2 through "Log and Transfer" in FCP. I use 5 by the way...
Make sense?
