A SAD day for my DVX100...need comfort

The guy said hed pay for the reapirs. I had told him not to kick it around but he didn't listen :(

BUT GOOD NEWS:
I hooked it up to the tv and image is fine, focus is fine, iris is fine, filters all working....but i cant see the menu screen since its on the TV.

Would any one be willing to show me how to get to EVF on, by stating how many times u move the up and down arrow? I am trying to follow Barry's advice.

pull the battery out to reset the menu selection, put it back in after a few seconds, then turn it on, hit menu/down 5 times/enter/down 13 times/enter/up once/enter.

Ahhh, you don't want to go through all the hassel of fixing your DVX, I will give you $51 for your PC Component board.

Sorry to be late to this thread. Sorry to not offer any help. Sorry your DVX got smashed. But this I have to know...

You were taking this out of the box. Was this DVX brand new? The first thing you shot with this? and someone was kicking around a soccer ball in your general vicinity????

Man, I don't even let salt air from the ocean near my DVX, let alone a soccer ball (but that's just me....i guess).

Again, sorry, and good luck.

In the manual that I got with the DVX100, it shows all the menus options, like a file tree. If you look at that (im not sure if it differs in the 100b) you should be able to navigate around with the manual.

it was 10 months old...i too wouldn't even leave if out of its box when I first got it to prevent dust from landing on it.

Anyways, I send it to Panasonic and they are going to review it and send me an estimate. I'll keep you guys updated...seeing that you never know when your DVX might break either and may require similar info one day----------hopefully not.

Seriously, I just got my dvx100b like a week ago and I don't know how I could ever live without it now. I'm sorry for you're loss Mackfilm, I'm sure you'll get it fixed sometime :)

Take your friend kicking the soccer ball to court, sue him, and have him pay for the damages. Im serious too, you'd probably win... It was his recklessness that caused the damage. unless your friend is underage.

I've got insurance on my DVX through a homeowner's policy; it covers theft, malfunction and...accidental damage such as droppage, etc. Only costs $38 extra on the policy - a very worthwhile investment for a $2400 camera.
Sorry about your loss, man. It could happen to any of us anywhere. When you love shooting, it's hard sometimes to focus on everything that's going on around you. After it happens, it's easy to say, "I should've seen that coming," but you can't be so conservative about when and where you're shooting to ensure that you would never break it, because then you would never have it out of the box...better to suffer expensive damage sometime than never take the risks to enjoy your camera...as in all things, it's a balancing act. Good luck with the repairs.

well said joel.

The School I go to is going to pay for the repairs since it was being used for a class and I film all the sports events at the school---they feel they kinda owe it to me.

So it shall be repaired--with someone else's money!!!!!!

Great news, mackfilm. Glad to hear it's working out. You may experience a newfound fear of soccer balls. Look out!
