May contain spoilers!

Just took a look.

I enjoyed the cinematography the best. The camera movements were outstanding.

Lighting worked, and MOST of the audio worked (some of it was off).

The acting was poor in parts, but the main guy really made it happen.

How did you color correct this? Also, when the sniper gets his gun out of his trunk, you don't see the camera or the operator's reflection on the car...But we saw his. How was that shot?

Good job over all man,

Robbie.

Thanks Robbie, I appreciate the comments. I DP'd and operated the film. We were going for a very stylized "Tony Scott" type look, almost like it was shot on reversal stock.

The shot you are referring to about the sniper, was achieved by shooting on a very long lens, so I was not actually close to the car, which removed my reflection, but kept his.

Glad you liked the film. Thanks again.

Great work Andrew, you must be really proud of it!!!
Please do keep on making films... I'll be showing ur film around to my friends =D

Some comments, I felt that the "Govenment control room" scenes could be nicer, re-arrange the computers? throw in more extras or something. Just quite funny to see the director always walking behind the computer guy. And I felt the blood could be better.. I'm sure you got this comment from others!

Best regards
David

Very nice. Indeed very Tony Scott looking. Both the montage and the soundtrack reminded me of man on fire. What kind of color correction did you pull?

Nice work, Andrew. Great stuff, especially while only using the native lens on the DVX. I really enjoyed your camera work more than anything else. I'm curious, there's a shot where the camera encircles your protagonist several times while he's handing off the documents, and then the camera follows the guy on the bike. Did you use any kind of dolly? What did you do there? Also, did you use pretty much the same shutter speed throughout?

Thanks Dub, the shutter was generally around a 1/120th or 1/250th. The shot circling the actors was accomplished by me sitting in the backseat of the directors very small Honda Civic as he drove circles around them, and as the actor rides off on the bike, we timed it to be parallel with him so we could track with him. I was actually surprised how well it worked!

helicopter ? that's an expensive shot!!

I'm pretty keen on special effects, but may I ask how the head exploding was done? I know the real head was just masked off, but what was that exploding that was superimposed? a bag of blood or something?

That **** was TIGHT! I liked it alot! Most of the acting was believable, and I love the way you shot it. And yeah, howd you do the exploding head?

I saw that the director Thanked Full Sail.... I've been trying to convince my parents to let me go there once I'm done with Highschool. Do you think it would be wise for me to do that? My parents don't want me to go there because they said its a technical school, and they want me to go to a "REAL COLLEGE" what do you think about that?

The Good:
- I really dug the cinematography. It definitely feels like the Tony Scott-style you were going for, nice job. Was this all natural lighting and then CC in post?
- Editing and sound, for the most part.
- Pretty much everything after the gun shot realization.

The Bad:
- The characters and the story. I never really bought into it. I mean, he brings this info to the news station where he interns? Barges in during a news cast? At least I assume that's what it was, the set and actors didn't sell it though. And he's on TV for about 15 seconds and all of a sudden the gov't is all over his ass? Eh. Once you had the assassin dude chasing after him, it got better. But the opening was weak, almost wanted to stop watching.
- The acting. The main character did alright toward the end (from gun shot reaction 'till end), everyone else... so-so. Didn't buy the bad guy and his techie (btw, where's everyone else in the CIA?). Roommate, girl, meh.

The Ugly:
Uggghhh, copyrighted music. Really took me out of it.

But you're just the DP, so hey... great job all around! :D

Thanks for the comments guys.

The head explosion was a mask in AE, with a blood splatter from Andrew Kramers motion package composited/tracked/cc'd in. The director CC'd the film, as well as did the SFX.

Nick, the director recently graduated from Full Sail, and I am in my last months. It is a great technical school, but there are a lot of "talkers" here. It is easy to get lazy in the fact that you are there to learn film. If you want to work in this industry in a technical position, even as a DP, like myself, this school is a great place, and gives you a lot of opportunity to experiment and learn with the newest equipment.

Thanks for the comments everyone, it is much appreciated!

Andrew - Out of curiosity, do you know a guy at Full Sail Film named Carlos Velasco? Just a buddy of mine, not sure how big the enrollment is there.

Do you think its better to go there for college or after college? And if this covers just the technical stuff, what other stuff is there that I would be missing? Is it hard to get in? And are most students that go there successful when they graduate?
